SSGA is looking for a Senior Portfolio Manager in London to join the best-in-class multi-asset exposure management team.

You will be responsible for advising and managing a set of portfolios, including completion overlays, hedging and return-seeking strategies with the team through the usage of synthetic and derivatives instruments (futures, options, swaps, forwards) and / or physical exposures (ETFs and more traditional mutual funds).

You will also focus on improving the investment process and to the improvement/development of the tools and systems used for that mission.

The role will involve the implementation of strategic changes to clients' portfolios in liaison with our dedicated strategy and research team and will include coordinating the trade execution with our trading desk and engage with clients and consultants from time to time.

You are well organized and capable to get along with principals in support areas including technology business operations, performance measurement reporting, investment risk teams and trade operations. She or he will be a talented investment professional with a successful experience in derivatives portfolio management.

Key Duties
  • Managing day to day exposure management portfolios in line with their risk targets and investment objectives, with a particular focus on multi-asset (fixed income a plus) and derivatives instruments
  • Providing meaningful market insight and positive contribution to the investment process
  • Execution of OTC and listed derivative transactions including swap, future and option based instruments
  • Participate to business development and promoting our capabilities in the EMEA
  • Ability to work in a small-medium size team and work a lead and back-up portfolio manager on a number of mandates
  • Collaborating with the Strategy & Research team to improve and develop models and tools used by the team to evaluate assets, construct portfolios and make recommendations for clients' portfolios and funds.
  • Proactive in the development of tools to improve portfolio investment and operational excellency
  • Research projects and system testing

Technical & Education Requirements:
  • CF30 Registered is a requirement
  • CFA Charterholder preferred.
  • Knowledge of the capital markets including derivatives, multi-asset (domestic and international equity, fixed income and alternatives)
  • Good communication / presentation skills in order to work with clients/prospects and ability to articulate sophisticated investment concepts to a broad range of audiences
  • Understanding of advanced financial theories with a pragmatic knowledge of quantitative and statistical tools
  • Strong computer skills, knowledge of front office tools (could be Front Arena, Charles River, Bloomberg)
  • Positive personality and a strong team orientation
  • Will have previously run investment portfolios.
