The opportunity exists for a highly motivated individual, to launch or advance a career in equity research and real estate research as part of an oft-referenced, well respected and acclaimed research team. This is an ideal role for candidates with a relevant financial background and either experience or a demonstrable interest in equity research, real estate or real estate finance to play an integral role in the research function as the business continues to mature.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Embracing the Company's culture, which emphasizes high standards for our work product and teamwork.
Applying sound understanding and use of finance and valuation techniques
Supporting Senior Analysts in preparing and publishing a wide range of research reports
Preparing detailed and thoughtful valuation and earnings estimates on assigned property companies.
Maintaining various databases, including, but not limited to, those related to: property industry performance statistics, and property transactions, development and valuation.
Preparing various financial analyses and exhibits that will be used in Green Street's internal and published research.
Become involved in preparing and writing sections of research reports on assigned property companies or real estate markets.
Identifying, summarizing, and distributing key news items concerning the REITs under coverage and related topics (e.g. real estate transactions, retail sales, retailers, job growth, etc.).
Providing value-added commentary to Green Street clients in due course
Briefing Green Street's sales team on news and research topics on a regular basis.
Working with other members of the Green Street team on various assignments as needed.
Building and maintaining industry contacts for broader market prospective and to support research theses.
Travelling, including multi-day trips, in Europe and North America to visit companies, properties and clients.
Maintaining complete confidentiality with regard to client details and material non-public information.
We are highly selective - candidates should meet the following requirements:
A Bachelors degree or higher in a relevant field
An accounting or CFA qualification
Strong analytical skills and a solid background in finance
Experience and/or working knowledge of publicly traded real estate securities, general securities, capital markets or conducting financial/economic research
Need to have a passion for independent private and listed market real estate research
Superior financial modelling and valuation skills
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
A strong work ethic and motivation to learn
Meticulous attention to detail
Exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal)
High level of organizational skills with the ability to multi-task effectively and handle a large number and variety of tasks whilst maintaining accuracy
Interest in pursuing the CFA designation
The ability to speak a second, European, language would be an advantage
