Headquartered in Los Angeles, the firm has approximately almost 200 employees and $115 billion in AUM, with offices in London (opened in 1998), Boston and Milan. Payden & Rygel invests assets on behalf of institutional investors primarily through highly customized investment strategies, but also through UCITS and US-domiciled mutual funds.

The Position

Payden & Rygel is seeking a portfolio analyst to join its London office, reporting into the London-based head of global fixed income. The team comprises 7 employees currently, and the London office numbers 22 members of staff. The role will be to provide a range of support functions to, and extensive interaction with London and Los Angeles-based fixed income strategists, analysts and traders.

A strong analytical background is desirable, but more important than this an ability to think analytically and an acuity with mental maths. A familiarity with Microsoft Excel and programing languages is advantageous, but a willingness and ability to acquire these skills on the job is vital.

Equally important is that the candidate possesses excellent communication skills, and can be a valuable addition to what is a highly motivated team-based culture. We are therefore open to graduates from a humanities as well as a scientific background.

The position will offer the right candidate exposure to many aspects of our business as well as a thorough grounding in the management of fixed income and cash-oriented portfolios, of both single and multi-currency varieties. Career prospects are excellent at Payden and our client and staff-retention rates are very high as a result.

The Individual

Professional Experience

  • We are equally open to new graduates as well as those with one or two years of professional experience.

  • An inquisitive and problem-solving character together with a hard-working ethos are all essential. The successful candidate will want to enhance our team and our offering to our clients.

  • A 2:1 degree (or an international equivalent) from a recognized university.
  • CFA or a willingness to pursue the CFA is required.

We offer a structured career path coupled alongside a competitive salary and benefits package. Should you feel that your profile fits the desired criteria, we would welcome you to submit your resume for review.
