Analytical Manager: Insurance UK, Middle East and Africa - (London based)

The EMEA Financial Services Ratings Practice has an Analytical Manager opening and is looking to fill it as soon as possible. The successful candidate will lead a UK, Middle East and Africa Insurance team. The team will have about 16 analysts and support staff located across several EMEA offices, including London, Dubai and Johannesburg, with additional analytical support team members in India.
The Analytical Manager will be a member of FS EMEA Leadership team. He will participate in determining department strategy and priorities, with a specific focus on EMEA insurance. He will champion and support organization decisions and business strategies in a credible way.
The Analytical Manager (AM) is responsible for managing the credit ratings process-The AM is charged with leading the establishment of efficient and effective production of quality ratings, the publication of high quality and accurate analytical materials, and the coordination of other analytical activities within the group. The AM is responsible for fostering continual improvement, setting and maintaining high standards of performance, and ensuring the quality of the group's ratings as well as its compliance with all policies, procedures, and guidelines.
The incumbent will provide strong leadership to the senior analytical staff and exhibit a comprehensive understanding of all major elements of analytical management. Further, the individual must be able to effectively apply this knowledge in dealing with all levels of management, staff, and clients. The AM is not responsible for, or involved in, fee discussions, negotiations, or commercial activities.
Responsibilities include:
  • Active contributor to FS Leadership team and drives execution of strategic plan at team level
  • Exhibits a comprehensive understanding of all major elements of analytical business management and maintains an understanding of industry trends and issues.
  • Sets and maintains performance standards; ensures maintenance of high quality ratings, compliance, and expertise within team; contributes to the improvement of ratings criteria and operational processes.
  • Provides day-to-day guidance and leadership to analytical staff; effectively applies analytical business knowledge in dealing with all levels of management, clients, and staff and ensures the highest level of service is provided to external and internal customers.
  • Supports the efficient and effective publication of quality and accurate analytical materials through effective staffing (Identifying, hiring, developing, motivating, and retaining analytical talent).
  • Effectively work with all business partners
  • This position requires a seasoned analyst or manager with diverse experience and highly developed interpersonal and communication skills coupled with strong company, industry, and market knowledge and experience.
  • 10+ years in financial services.
  • Strong leadership, consultative, and relationship building abilities, coupled with strong influencing, negotiation, and communication skills required.
  • MBA or CFA preferred, but not required, with a minimum of 10 years in the financial services industry.
  • People management skills.
  • Lean Management skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound independent judgment and good business acumen.
  • Must be able to work effectively in team-oriented, global, and multi-cultural environment.
  • Extensive travel requirements
