Portfolio Analysis Group (“PAG”) is responsible for performance measurement and portfolio analytics for external clients and serves as a value-added source of independent analysis and thought leadership for internal clients including portfolio managers, front office advisors, sales & marketing and senior management.  Analysis types and activities include, but are not limited to, rate of return calculations, return attribution, risk analytics, competitive analysis and composite construction.  This analysis is instrumental to help external clients understand drivers of return in their portfolios and help us internally measure the effectiveness of our products and strategies. 

PAG consists of investment analysis professionals globally.  Included are a dedicated business management team, platform team and data management team which support the group.  We serve different client groups through two main lines of business:

  • Asset Management (“AM”) which is a leading investment manager of choice for institutions, financial intermediaries and individual investors worldwide with a clear focus on managing client assets and delivering strong risk-adjusted returns.   With over 300 different strategies, Asset Management spans the full spectrum of asset classes, including equity, fixed income, cash liquidity, currency, real estate, hedge funds and private equity.  PAG's AM presence includes the following locations: New York, Columbus, London, Mumbai, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Tokyo
  • Wealth Management (“WM”), which includes both the Ultra High Net Worth and High Net Worth businesses, offers individuals and families personalized, comprehensive financial solutions that integrate sophisticated investment management, capital markets, trust and banking capabilities.  PAG's WM presence includes the following locations: New York, Geneva, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Sao Paulo and Mexico City

This role is within the Asset Management EMEA Portfolio Analysis Group which is responsible for production and oversight of investment performance, attribution, GIPS composites, and market risk analysis across.  PAG has four key pillars: Independence, Quality Assurance, Analytical Expertise, and Scalable Processing

Reporting to the EMEA Head of AWM PAG, you will be responsible for leading the EMEA AM Portfolio Analysis Group. You will work closely with the global PAG teams, and will be expected to partner with other functions across AM, including Portfolio Managers, Investment Specialists, Investment Directors, Sales Advisors, Business Transformations, Product Development, Operations and Technology, as well as control functions including Legal, Risk, Compliance, Controls Management and Internal Audit in respect to the areas covered by the PAG team.
 
Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the EMEA AM Portfolio Analysis Group supporting investment performance and risk analytics for clients and strategies across EMEA
  • Manage teams supporting performance operations, attribution, risk analysis and GIPS composites across several geographic locations
  • Engage senior stakeholders by providing regular updates on the group and responding to business requirements and request from clients
  • Work alongside PAG Projects to help deliver strategic change to the Group's systems and capabilities
  • Seek opportunities for enhancing the analytical capabilities of PAG and improve scalability of processes
  • Maintain compliance with GIPS Standards and remain up to date with relevant changes in industry regulations
  • Partner with PAG Projects, Operations and Technology management teams to ensure appropriate escalation and resolution of data quality issues impacting performance measurement
  • Ensure the proper functioning of controls, identify and remediate control issues and continually seek ways to enhance checks and minimize errors
  • Ensure timely and accurate management information reporting and escalation to the International Head of PAG and relevant governance committees
  • Ensure appropriate governance of investment performance measurement within Asset Management by presenting and discussing topics at the Portfolio Analysis Governance Committee
  • Work closely with the firm's Control functions to ensure PAG is operating with the appropriate controls, support on-going testing requirements and remediation of any issues
  • Represent PAG's fiduciary responsibilities and present at global and regional Risk Committees
  • Partner with the AWM PAG Management team to set the strategic direction and budgeting
  • Provide oversight and consultation on potential issues that arise with operations management, risk, compliance and products as necessary
  • Ensure operational practices are in compliance with relevant risk standards, policies and regulations to maintain an effective control environment

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Relevant degree/professional qualifications and/or relevant commercial experience
  • Relevant experience within an Asset Management or Private Banking setting,  preferably in a performance analytics, operations, investments or control-related role 
  • Must have excellent analytical skills, in addition to strong interpersonal and communication skills to bring drive, energy and enthusiasm to lead a large and diverse team and collaborate across business areas
  • Ability to successfully influence many different groups and individuals to deliver high quality and timely deliverables
  • Consultative in approach, understanding and anticipating business partner needs and proactively delivering solutions
  • Ability to successfully navigate a complex infrastructure that involves numerous groups and individuals
  • Drives critical thinking and proactively seeks out best practices
  • Proactive control and risk management, addressing gaps in processes and escalating issues to benefit the business and clients in a dynamic environment Strong problem-solving ability
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Highly motivated and organized with an ability to work under pressure
  • Proven understanding of investment performance measurement, ex-post risk measures, performance attribution and composites is advantageous
  • Experience with operational risk analysis, process improvement, end-to-end process reviews and process flow mapping is an advantage
  • CIPM / CFA qualifications are advantageous
  • Knowledge of the GIPS standards is advantageous
  • Travel when required
