Equity Research Associate - UK Mid Cap Real Estate, London

As we continue to increase our stock coverage within the UK MidCap team, we are looking to hire at Associate level to help cover Real Estate in our Equity Research division in London. This is an exciting opportunity if you are keen to make a career change into Equity Research from a relevant industry/background, or are particularly passionate about the sector after relevant study, or work experience.

Your responsibilities:

  • Conducting research  on a range of companies within the Real Estate team, attendance at company presentations, attendance of meetings with company management, researching company accounts/reports and other sources and drafting research notes;
  • Analysis and interpretation of sector specific data to assist with publishing notes and investment ideas;
  • Financial modelling and valuation;
  • Undertaking various support tasks associated with the research function, updating databases, reviewing and archiving research material.

Your profile:

  • Degree level education or equivalent experience required
  • Suitable backgrounds may be:
  • A recently qualified RICS surveyor - ideally from an investment-biased graduate scheme, with experience at one of the large commercial real estate agencies OR;
  • A recently qualified ACA/ACCA that worked with real estate businesses (transactional services/restructuring) who knows the key parts of real estate valuation and can find their way around the financial accounts OR;
  • Somebody that comes directly from the real estate industry, ideally in a junior investment or finance function (RICS)
  • A good understanding of commercial property and its specific terms, with strong knowledge of the Real Estate markets and accounting/investing
  • Working in a systematic and methodical way
  • Showing evidence of clear analytical thinking
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Knowledge of company valuations and financial modelling preferable, or ability to learn
  • CFA level 1 is also highly regarded
