Global Investment Bank is currently hiring for a technical Valuation/IPV controller to join their Cross Asset Valuations methodology team in London. This is a newly created team and is an ideal opportunity for a candidate who is keen to continue to build on their technical knowledge whilst having a key involvement in building a new valuation control methodology framework.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform the independent price verification for traded inventory, calculate market value adjustments and conduct new trade reviews.  
  • Key Point of contact for Finance, Front Office and Risk Management and will support the development of a strong valuation framework and the application of consistent valuation methodologies for the bank.
  • Ensure the organisation has the most complete valuation control framework across all areas of price verification, valuation adjustments and wider governance aspects. 
  • Focus on a range and evolving scope of initiatives, from known valuation and governance issues to areas of changing and emerging market practice.
  • Investigate the above issues through providing thought-leadership to management on their resolution, and to provide specific, practical and implementable advice on how to address the issues 
  • Key Point of contact for Finance, Front Office and Risk Management and will support the development of a strong valuation framework and the application of consistent valuation methodologies for the bank.
  • Responsible for developing and drafting formal policies, technical papers and governance documents 

 

Requirements:

 

  • Proven experience within an IPV/Valuation Control role, Valuation Methodology, Market Risk or Front Office Pricing role
  • Excellent understanding of complex structured products and different models used for valuation - ideally across a number of asset classes
  • Strong mathematical academic background to MSc or CFA level
  • Good experience of process improvements ideally including building methodology frameworks
  • Strong understanding of current global accounting and regulatory developments related to the valuation of financial instruments

This involves daily interaction with key stakeholders including front office heads and it is therefore essential you have strong interpersonal skills. The role offers excellent career progression opportunities as the team continues to grow into a director level position.
