Team Overview

The Investment Solutions team sits within the Product & Solutions Division. Investment Solutions is a sub-set of Portfolio Solutions, which is the engine room for the design and delivery of solutions to the firm's clients. The team lead on solutions engagement with clients and prospects bringing deep investment knowledge, actuarial, retirement saving & investment strategy insight to Schroder's relationships with clients and prospective clients. The Global DC Team sit within Investment Solutions with a specific focus on DC business and the Retirement Strategic Capability.
The team also supports the development of Schroder's market presence via the media and publication of relevant thought pieces, supported by the Research & Analytics team.

Overview of role

A major element of the role is to support the DC team to convert intellectual content, market and regulatory change knowledge and thought-leadership materials into tangible Retirement & DC business initiatives.
There are four key elements to this role;
• Retirement market research: In conjunction with local product and business development representatives investigate legislation, and local business practice to understand any local DC market that is of interest to the business. Maintain a structured set of information on each relevant country. Evaluate the likely impact of changes in DC regulation and market practice to identify potential future Retirement opportunities. Ensure that all relevant regulatory change is identified and reviewed to see if this change is a business risk or catalyst as an opportunity.
• Retirement Strategic Capability: Maintain the Retirement Strategic Capability websites (internal & external); work with the Strategic Capability Product Executive and oversee all relevant collateral and materials. The role holder will be the 'point person' for questions and requests in respect of these materials and in respect of the retirement segment of Global Investor Survey.
• DC/Retirement solutions design: Develop materials to support DC/Retirement opportunities, whether used in client & prospect meetings, conferences, press, media meetings. Maintain the DC/Retirement slide library.
• DC/Retirement Business Development: Support the on-going development of launched Retirement/DC business initiatives, by developing specific materials for the relevant initiative such as on-going reporting, presentation and client communication material (for example the Canadian Target Date Fund range)
• Thought Leadership: Carry out research to support the production of DC/Retirement Capability thought leadership; working closely with the Research & Analytics Team (Duncan Lamont) and the wider Portfolio Solutions team (where modelling is required).
The role holder will be required to demonstrate enthusiasm and aptitude across these elements. The role offers flexibility as there is the potential to work on a broad range of projects over time and develop towards a strategist role. The role holder will have a willingness to work in completely new areas and apply knowledge to both client types and geographies beyond their existing experience.
Essential Skills

This position will involve the application of DC related skills and an willingness to research new areas. The successful candidate is expected to be working towards or have obtained a post-graduate qualification (Actuarial and/or CFA/or demonstrate comparable experience) and the following competencies will be desirable:
• A willingness to develop an understanding of the technical, legal and investment issues facing DC pension funds and other institutional asset pools;
• An inquisitive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills;
• Strong networking skills required to meet the objectives of the role.
• An inquisitive attitude combined with high level analytical, data manipulation and statistical skills to develop market leading research;
• Dependable and reliable delivery of accurate work.
• A capacity to work cooperatively with a range of groups as part of, or coordinator of, project type tasks.
• Experienced Excel and PowerPoint user.
