WELLINGTON MANAGEMENT
Wellington Management offers comprehensive investment management capabilities that span nearly all segments of the global capital markets. Our investment solutions, tailored to the unique return and risk objectives of institutional clients in more than 50 countries, draw on a robust body of proprietary research and a collaborative culture that encourages independent thought and healthy debate. As a private partnership, we believe our ownership structure fosters a long-term view that aligns our perspectives with those of our clients.
POSITION
As part of continued growth, we are seeking to recruit a Fixed Income Investment Specialist to join our Investment Products & Strategies team in London.
Investment Products & Strategies - Fixed Income
The fixed income team within Investment Products and Strategies (IPS) at Wellington works closely with our fixed income investment teams, our sales & relationship management, and business colleagues around the firm. Our fixed income investors span a wide range of disciplines, geographies, sectors, and styles. The IPS function has three main responsibilities:
Product Development and Marketing
IPS contributes to client growth and retention by assessing business opportunities and leading business planning, developing new products and investment solutions, creating the communication strategy for the book of business, including materials that differentiate the product relative to competitors, and acting as a subject matter expert and portfolio representative for colleagues, clients and consultants.
Investment Integrity and Risk Management
IPS acts as an independent advisor to investment teams to ensure the integrity of the investment and risk management processes, as well as consistency with client expectations and guidelines, conducts regular portfolio risk and performance attributions reviews, and contributes to formal oversight processes.
Business Management
IPS contributes to managing the business, including managing risk, capacity, pricing and guidelines, leading the resolution of internal business issues, and sharing investment integrity, marketing and product development best practices.
Role and responsibilities:
Investment Specialists are members of product teams, which are led by Investment Directors. They work closely with the Investment Directors, investment teams, and business professionals on the areas described above. Responsibilities include performing analyses that ensure portfolio integrity by providing oversight of portfolio positioning, performance, and risk exposures. They also contribute to the development of new investment strategies and client solutions, conduct market and competitor analysis, evaluate product overlap and capacity trends, and prepare white papers and presentation materials that serve to differentiate our portfolios. Over time they participate in meetings with clients, prospects, and consultants to communicate our investment philosophy, strategy, positioning, and performance. They are flexible problem solvers with a can-do attitude, who enjoy taking ownership of issues.
Qualifications:
The Investment Specialist role requires demonstrated knowledge of portfolio and market analysis, and a passion for fixed income investing. Advanced analytical skill including the ability to frame issues, identify important points and draw conclusions, combined with strong communication skills and intellectual curiosity. Comfort working in a fast paced environment, in a multi-faceted role where priorities can change rapidly, is important.
The successful candidate is likely to have:
* A strong academic background, ideally including a post-graduate or professional qualification (e.g. Masters degree or CFA), or progress towards one;
* 5-7 years of relevant professional experience, ideally including experience working in a similar or related function on the Buy side;
* Demonstrated knowledge of fixed income markets and investment strategies;
* Excellent organizational and project management skills, and attention to detail;
* Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as creative problem solving skills, and a solutions-oriented mindset;
* Strong business judgment, curiosity, comfort with ambiguity;
* Leadership skills, grace under pressure, flexibility, ability to get things done.
Please note that we are only able to respond to successful applicants.
