The Opportunity:
  • This is a terrific and very rare opportunity to work for an outstanding global alternative investment management firm
  • Based in their beautifully appointed West End based London offices, this role is analytical, entrepreneurial and challenging, offering extensive exposure to key stakeholders within the business across their Global offices including the front office investment teams
  • The role sits within a small and nimble London based team, with a primary focus on the Valuation / price verification of both liquid assets AND illiquid assets with these numbers feeding into the P & L production process
  • The illiquid assets are both varied and complex, and include real investments such as Private Equity and Real Estate, and, also include aircraft and shipping amongst a range of more unusual assets
  • Liquid assets include equities, fixed income including convertible bonds, and a wide range of derivative instruments
  • The valuation process is a constantly evolving process. The illiquid positions in particular represent an interesting and cerebral challenge and will involve, for example, the development and maintenance of private equity models to benchmark the analyst underwriting assumptions as well as assisting the front office with the preparation of Private Equity memorandum
  • Secondary responsibilities will be focused around P& L production for both Europe and Asia regions

Your Experience:
  • You will have a very strong and numerate record of academic achievement plus a relevant industry qualification demonstrating not only your intellectual rigour but also your knowledge around accounting principles and company valuation methodologies - accounting qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) and / or CFA most likely
  • In terms of your specific work history, you will have worked within an external independent valuation firm, the valuations arm of a deal advisory / consulting firm, or valuation focused role within a hedge fund / family office
  • The London office still retains a boutique feel and the use of technology is key. In light of this you must be tech savvy with advanced excel skills (VBA / basic programming preferred)
  • Exceptional communication skills are essential. There is no meaningful demarcation between the true investment functions and those that very closely support it like this. You will be expected to be comfortable having meaningful conversations with senior investment professionals across all their global offices and this will necessitate advanced communication skills both verbal and written
  • You will be ambitious, hungry to learn, able to take decisions and demonstrate conviction of thought, as well as be proactive, collaborative in action and be able to implement process changes
  • Emotional intelligence is key!

My Client
  • A true leading Global Alternative Investment Manager with offices in key financial centres. My client is a hugely successful business with a reputation within the hedge fund world that is very hard to beat
  • The London office remains "boutique" in feel and size, and, the culture is entrepreneurial, collaborative and will suit a career focused individual
  • Possesses a culture that promotes both personal and professional development
  • This is a rare and unique career opportunity
