This professional will join the Capital, Liquidity, and Resolution Planning team within the Audit Services Group (Internal Audit) with responsibility for developing and executing audit engagements in the field of liquidity risk management. Based in London, the person will be responsible for the planning and delivery of liquidity risk audits on a global basis, necessitating close co-operation with other members Internal Audit team members in Northern Trust's Chicago headquarters and overseas locations. The role requires both high levels of audit expertise and knowledge of liquidity risk regulation. Given its international remit the ability to apply this expertise both on a cross-border and cross-legal entity basis is essential to the role.

The role is a direct report to an Audit Senior Manager located in Chicago and is responsible for assisting in the recruiting, retention and development process for the audit team. The Audit Specialist assists in developing the understanding and knowledge of the audit teams through coaching and mentoring.

MAJOR DUTIES:

• Lead the design of audit coverage for all aspects of liquidity risk management on a global basis
• Working with audit teams across the world, execute liquidity risk audits from initial planning, to conducting fieldwork and through to finalization of draft audit reports
• Communicate audit findings to business units, support and internal control functions, and Senior Management
• Keep abreast of updates to global liquidity risk regulation and provide guidance on the impact of those changes to audit planning and coverage
• Provide insights on risk themes identified for inclusion in Board and Committee reporting, both at corporate and legal entity levels
• Guide and coach other audit team members increase knowledge and awareness of liquidity risk concepts

EXPERIENCE

• Strong auditing experience in a financial institution or in a public auditing/consulting firm, preferably with strong coverage of treasury and/or liquidity risk management functions.
• Detailed knowledge of global regulations applicable to the field of liquidity risk management, including the liquidity coverage ratio (LCR), net stable funding ratio (NSFR), and liquidity stress testing and associated governance and control requirements
• Experience dealing with cross-border and legal entity audits is highly desirable
• Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CFA, ACA, ACCA) and/or an MBA along with demonstrated technical abilities in select areas (e.g. accounting, finance, etc.) are preferred
