The Portfolio Group, Banking (The "Group") is responsible for management of performing loan portfolio of Banking assets.

The Associate Director in Portfolio Strategy and Analytics (PSA) is a key contributor in terms of the deliverables of the wider Portfolio Business Group department and reports to the Head of PSA. The ideal candidate is responsible for the supervision of junior members within the team, as well as coordination with all stakeholders within the Bank who are involved in post signing activities for the Banking operations. For this fixed term maternity cover of 12 months, the role will be mainly focused on:

  • Supervising the workflow process required for the spreading of financial data of clients managed by the Group (currently Corporate Debt and SME clients), including the development / enhancement of the existing spreading process as and when the client portfolio expands (i.e. Sustainable Infrastructure Debt, Equity, FI).
  • Managing the IT development process of existing product enhancement of the Efront spreading system, as well as integration with other data-driven processes.
  • Design and manage the development of portfolio analytics and reports required by the Group as well as senior management.
    In the above capacity, the Associate Director is accountable for managing a team of assistant analysts and analysts that collect and administer client level data and develop (portfolio) analytics for all operations as defined in the scope of the team. Under the Associate Director's guidance the team will develop data collection and reporting that will be a key tool in vigorous oversight of the portfolio that will constitute the first line of defence in managing risks.
    The Associate Director will contribute to the Group in its effort to design, build and operate a series of processes, rules and standards concerning debt portfolio management, instilling professional approach to portfolio management and encouraging behaviours fostering prevention (rather than reaction), and will own the processes for continuous improvement.

    Accountabilities & Responsibilities

    The Associate Director, PSA will perform, but not limited to, the following tasks:


  • Supervising the workflow process required for the spreading of financial data of clients managed by the Group (currently Corporate Debt and SME clients), including the development / enhancement of the existing spreading process as and when the client portfolio expands (i.e. Sustainable Infrastructure Debt, Equity, FI):
    • Manage a team of assistant analyst tasked with spreading client financials, including review financials post spreading if required;
    • Develop, enhance and maintain a consistent client financial data spreading process, including achievement of the team's KPI;
    • Ensure compliance with established processes, policies and guidelines;
    • Ensure timely responses to questions from the Group to the team.


  • Managing the IT development process of existing product enhancement of the Efront spreading system:
    • Keep track of all technical issues related to the spreading system eFront and ensure delivery of bug fixes and technical developments by IT;
    • Act as the team's contact point for external stakeholders in relation to existing systems (Efront) as well as potential new systems.
    • Contribute to various working groups on behalf of the Group in relation to system and process development and enhancements, if required


  • Design and manage the development of portfolio analytics and reporting as required by the Group as well as senior management:
  • Guidance, training and supervision of the assistant analysts to develop and maintain reports and data management tools, using internal and external systems (i.e. EFront, Tableau, Cognos. Excel etc);
  • Coordination of portfolio issues with the Group with respect to reporting, processes and portfolio analytics;
  • Provide support in implementation of monitoring procedure changes and cooperate with other stakeholders


Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Excellent stakeholder relationship with front, middle and back office within the Bank, including senior management.
  • Great attention to detail, strong common sense, outstanding time management skills, constructive management skills, ability to supervise and develop junior team members unfamiliar to the Bank
  • Ability to organise and prioritise a high volume of tasks and delegate the right tasks to junior team members
  • Quantitative/ numerical skills are essential with the ability to interpret financial information and understand and review financial accounts and reports
  • Extensive experience with aggregated portfolio analyses, risk management parameters and data mining skills to understand and interpret large data issues
  • Excellent experience with Cognos Report Studio, Microsoft Office including building databases and portfolio scenario analyses.
  • Excellent understanding of IT systems and processes.
  • Good understanding of Banking operations and internal monitoring processes applied by Risk Management, EPG and OAD.
  • Good written and oral communications skills in English, especially in translating technical knowledge to non-technical audience
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting backed by substantial practical experience
  • University degree in finance/economics/business, econometrics/computer science or related subject from a leading university in the country of education
  • CFA or ACCA designation is desirable but not a strict pre-requisite
  • Knowledge of languages of the banks Countries of Operation would be a plus
