Job Introduction

This is an exciting opportunity to work in the Emerging Markets Fixed Income credit analysis team within the Fund Management department. The Analyst will be responsible for providing analytical research mainly focused on Asian corporates/financials US corporates, as part of a broader research team with sector and regional responsibilities. Additional responsibilities will include marketing and investment management support to the Fund Management team.

Role Responsibility

In this role you will:
  • Identify sectors and areas of particular interest within the Asian credit market that merit more detailed focus.
  • Complete bespoke quantitative and qualitative research on Asian corporate sectors or issuers relating to the Fund Managers' investment strategies.
  • The analysis may be across multiple sectors, driven by portfolio considerations, economic environment, news backgrounds etc.
  • Share and discuss analysis with other team members as well as other fund management teams.
  • Attend research meetings internally and externally including travel outside UK and periodic research visits to Asia.
  • Present internally and externally where appropriate, such as at the weekly investment meetings.
  • Maintain and produce databases of credit information on corporate issuers within coverage remit.
  • Assist with preparation of marketing presentations.
  • Assist marketing with production of month end data.
  • Assist with weekly valuations.

Compliance, risk, governance, and legal responsibilities:
  • Act in accordance with the FCA's Treating Customers Fairly principles;
  • Adhere to Compliance requirements (including FCA rules, Anti Money Laundering regulations and HMRC requirements) and internal procedures
  • Manage risk within area of responsibility in order to mitigate errors and breaches
  • Meet responsibilities as documented in the Disaster Recovery Plan

The Ideal Candidate
  • Proven quantitative skills and qualitative skills, including the ability to build and run financial models and perform detailed financial analysis.
  • Significant working knowledge of relevant markets and investing.
  • Fundamental research skills & solid knowledge of credit analysis.
  • Ability to produce clear and appropriately documented analysis in timely fashion.
  • A keen interest in investment and markets.
  • Highly numerate with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Good organisational skills - capable of working to deadlines and multi-tasking.
  • IT skills including Excel, PowerPoint, Bloomberg and proficient with technology.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Resilient - able to cope in a fast moving and challenging environment.
  • Language skills - Mandarin (business level proficiency) is desirable but not essential.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent industry experience
  • IMC/CFA or willingness to undertake
