Come and join our exciting and market leading Debt Advisory team and learn about the bank and capital markets. We provide Independent advice to borrowers across the full spectrum of the debt markets from Governments to FTSE companies and private equity clients.

We are an extremely hands on and busy team who work on approaching 100 client deals a year and you will be introduced to financial markets, credit ratings and hedging. There is great opportunity for client exposure and we are a rapidly growing team who compete successfully with top independent investment banks in the market.

Your Key Responsibilities

As a Debt Advisory Senior Executive, you'll be supporting the senior team on client coverage and deal execution.

When required, you'll personally execute designated debt advisory procedures and lead teams or parts of teams on engagements, depending on the size of the engagement.

You'll actively establish, maintain and strengthen internal and external relationships and make sure that delivered client work is of high quality. As part of this, you'll anticipate and identify risks and escalate issues, as appropriate.

As an influential member of the team, you'll help to create a positive learning culture and will coach and counsel junior team members and help them to develop.

Skills and Attributes for Success

  • Running transactions on a day-to-day basis, - this involves working closely with funders and other advisors (both EY and non-EY) as well as key company management team contacts.
  • Preparation of key transaction documentation such as information memorandums, management presentations, structuring analysis and various financial models / discussion materials to assist in advisory and debt financing discussions.
  • Targeting, marketing, preparation of proposal materials, client coverage and working as part of the team to develop proposals for new business.
  • Knowledge of debt financing products
  • Ability to learn quickly


To qualify for the role you must have
  • Good Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Good written English and maths and strong project management skills
  • Experience of operating in a team addressing borrowers/issuers in the debt capital markets, whether bank, bond, public or private - experience across multiple products/markets is an advantage. This could be in any capacity, such as advisor, lender, arranger
  • Ability to learn quickly


Ideally, you'll also have
  • Professional ACA qualification, although this is not essential
  • People development experience and can effectively supervise, coach and mentor staff
  • The ability to build strong internal relationships within Corporate Finance and across other services, and can actively participate in business development
