Equity Research Associate, Insurance

We are currently looking to add resource to help with the build out of our coverage of the Insurance sector, so this is an exciting opportunity if you would like early exposure and rapid career progression. The sector has many complexities, so ideally we'd like someone who is familiar with the industry on a commercial level - whether that is working as an actuary, underwriter or in one of the financial services clients with Insurance client coverage. This opportunity is perfect for somebody looking to make a career change into the Equity Research sphere.

Your responsibilities:
  • Conducting research on a range of companies within the Insurance sector, attendance at company presentations, attendance of meetings with company management, researching company accounts/reports and other sources and drafting research notes
  • Financial modelling and valuation
  • Undertaking various support tasks associated with the research function, updating databases, reviewing and archiving research material

Your profile:
  • Previous experience in a commercial, analytical role is essential, preferably within the Insurance sector.
  • Working in a systematic and methodical way
  • Showing evidence of clear analytical thinking
  • Taking attention to detail
  • Degree level education or equivalent experience required
  • Advanced IT skills, including all standard Office applications
  • Knowledge of company valuations and financial modelling
  • ACA Qualification is a significant advantage
  • CFA level 1 is also highly regarded
