Role & Responsibilities

This is a broad ranging role with a range of responsibilities including:

Active Ownership
  • Proxy voting recommendations:
    • Review and analyse briefing of upcoming company meetings from proxy voting and research providers and in-house analyst information in line with the firm's voting policy
    • Conduct any further research on the company to form decision on voting recommendation
    • Provide rationale for and execute approved exception voting
  • Engagement:
    • Provide input into service provider's engagement agenda and coordinate the active investment team's engagement opportunities
    • Support indirect engagement with investee companies on financially material issues and ESG issues in collaboration with the service provider and organisations such as UN PRI, investment teams, or via the UK spokespersons, the broader group, and media
    • Support direct engagement with investee companies that fall outside the mandate of the engagement service provider, e.g. identify and prepare engagement content

ESG thought leadership & strategy
  • Corporate sustainability:
    • Follow market trends and update the company on key ESG, sustainable investments, and corporate governance, and active ownership developments
    • Drive and coordinate the implementation of sustainability initiatives across the bank in collaboration with other teams
    • Support training of the investment team and other teams on sustainability matters and trends
    • Support the investment team and Product Development on ESG integration for the bank's investment strategies
  • Marketing and distribution:
    • Raise the company's profile through attending sustainability conferences and events and preparing relevant materials
    • Write research pieces or input into publications
    • Provide ESG input and research for marketing or client reporting
    • Support client queries relating to sustainability

Experience & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a finance-related subject area or in sustainability management. Professional certifications such as CFA, CAIA, or IMC are also considered.
  • At least 2-5 years' experience with sustainable investment and active ownership
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and written
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Proven organisational skills
  • Experience and ability to interact with a large number of stakeholders
