Your opportunity
Financial institutions continue to be challenged in multiple ways. They need to navigate through an environment of unprecedented macroeconomic and political uncertainty. Their business models must evolve to fully embrace the digital age with the efficiencies and challenges this brings. They are also going through a period of considerable regulatory change, requiring them to negotiate their way across complex initiatives often across multiple jurisdictions, while simultaneously weighing these up against their internal business priorities.
Against this backdrop, the Risk Analytics division within Deloitte’s Financial Services Risk Advisory service line assists financial institutions in delivering, streamlining and transforming end to end design, development, validation and implementation of their modelling and analytical needs, their data solutions and their operating models. The team you will be part of specialises in assisting financial institutions across the model risk management lifecycle and in providing data and analytical solutions and services. The function is widely regarded in the market place as one of the leading risk modelling and analytics teams.

You will have the opportunity to work alongside experts in the field on a range of propositions including but not limited to data analytics, AI/ML, credit or market risk modelling (including IFRS9), scenario analysis, stress testing, credit automation and management of climate-related risks. This role will give you an opportunity to hone your entrepreneurial skills, develop your project management skills and sharpen both your analytical and presentational skills while growing your subject matter expertise. Projects could be short-term assignments from a few days or weeks to longer-term projects of a few months.

We encourage consideration of flexible ways of working, both formal and informal arrangements that allow for the best outcomes for our people and our clients. If this opportunity is of interest to you with some flexibility, please do discuss with us.

Your role
Through this role we are looking specifically to expand our stress modelling and scenario design capabilities. The successful applicant will enjoy an unparalleled opportunity to develop their risk modelling skills within a stimulating, supportive environment working with both top tier financial institutions as well as smaller financial institutions operating in niche markets and product spaces.

You will work collaboratively with other members of the Financial Risk Measurement, Risk and Capital Management and Risk Analytics teams on a range of propositions involving modelling and analytics for financial institutions. The role requires someone flexible enough to tackle a wide range of tasks:

  • Contribute to all aspects of credit (and/or market) risk model development and deployment including coding, testing, validation and review. The most common types of credit risk models worked on by the team are operational scorecards, capital models, impairment models, forecasting models and stress testing models.
  • Contribute to delivering projects to evaluate, design, develop and implement policies, procedures and strategies to effectively deploy and execute risk models and processes, consistent with regulatory requirements and/or market practice across model risk management.
  • Perform reviews of model deployment and execution frameworks, including gathering business requirements, assessing conceptual designs, examining governance and controls, and testing outcomes.
  • Help the team expand its range of services and solutions in the market place, considering operations, analytics and target operating model considerations for different client groups, and learn how to partner with 3rd party providers on delivery.
  • Be committed to building long-term, robust and professional working relationships with clients and key stakeholders, working with our senior management team to develop industry contacts
  • Contribute to model deployment and implementation teams (potentially including on-shore and off-shore resources), having a broader perspective of potential issues encountered when working with diverse teams and the strategies to overcome them and having a clear understanding of the firm’s commitment to creating a more inclusive culture
  • Keep up to date with academic, technical and industry developments in the field of risk management, solution deployment and implementation
  • Working effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution
