UK Select Fund - Deputy/Associate Fund Manager

About us:

Under the M&G brand, we offer asset management products and strategies to retail asset management and institutional clients in 28 markets. Our investment capabilities span the range of asset classes from cash to government bonds, corporate credit, multi-asset and equities. We also manage £57 billion of private assets, including bank loans, infrastructure and real estate.

In the UK, we manage £51 billion of savings on behalf of individual Prudential customers. Many invest in our PruFund range of funds. PruFund is invested in our £131 billion With Profit fund, the largest in the UK.

We also offer face-to-face advice to UK customers through our Prudential Financial Planning service, which now has 400 advisers across the country.

What is UK Select?

UK Select is a subset of the M&G UK equities team.

The UK team consists of 5 fund managers and 2 deputy fund managers with a combined AUM of £10.9bn.

The UK Select franchise consists of two separate funds totalling c£700m AUM, with one larger retail fund and a smaller institutional mandate.

We invest in high quality growth companies that can compound wealth over time and where the value of that is underappreciated by the market.

Belief that quality and valuation are mutually inclusive to generate positive investment outcomes.

We look for a progressive dividend as evidence of disciplined capital allocation.

Long term, active and engaged shareholders.

The role:

The primary focus of the role is to generate new investment ideas and monitor existing investments for the UK Select team via;
  • Primary research and modelling,
  • Hosting company meetings with senior management of investee companies
  • Attendance at Capital Markets Days and site visits
  • Client facing responsibilities
  • Support wider UK equity effort

Subject to approvals the successful candidate will be appointed deputy fund manager for all the UK Select mandates assuming responsibilities for portfolio construction and the approval and monitoring of all transactions in the lead fund manager's absence.

You will have:

We're looking for an energised, creative and independent thinker who is passionate about investing in great companies.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills - CFA, IMC, ACA etc.
  • A background in Growth Investing
  • Demonstrable track record in equity stock analysis and modelling.
  • A broad knowledge of sectors if preferable.
  • Knowledge of the UK Mid-Small Cap space is preferable but not essential
  • Strong inter-personal skills - the ability to interact with investee company management and clients is an integral part of the job.
  • Clear, concise decision-making framework.
  • Cultural fit with the wider UK team
