Job Description This is a exciting opportunity to join MFS in a newly created role as a Senior Analyst in the Sustainability team. The team is focused on projects and areas of thought leadership related to Sustainable Investing which is an important priority for MFS. The Sustainability team is part of the Investment Solutions Group that conducts research, develops MFS's views and delivers in depth analysis, insight, thought leadership and consulting. The work may be related to any/all client segments, and will engage with teams externally and internally within MFS.

This role will take direct responsibility for managing specific projects and areas of the research agenda, and be ultimately accountable for the delivery and quality of the work produced and will play a crucial role in working with other subject matter experts on sustainability within Investment Solutions, Legal, Technology and the Investment teams to write/publish MFS's thoughts via client ready presentations, white papers, web, conference presentations and responses to client inquiries. The Senior Analyst may be required to represent sustainability subject matter expertise in due diligence or sales meetings with institutional clients and professional buyers to communicate our views and our approach to incorporating sustainability in the investment process.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Take responsibility for the successful delivery of the ongoing research agenda and program related to sustainable investing. This includes the analysis of various industry trends, staying abreast of regulatory trends, and a deep understanding of client preferences and behavior.
  • Lead the development of MFS's collateral for an enhanced client dialog and engagement model by working closely with both client facing and investment management teams. This includes identifying and developing a perspective on sustainability related investment topics that MFS's relationship management teams can bring to clients to add value and build strategic partnerships.
  • Integrate the perspectives and output of various teams and lead the compilations and development of MFS house views, create and maintain presentations to support the investment teams in the relevant area of expertise.
  • Create and develop presentations, training tools, whitepapers and client oriented collateral material related to sustainable investing. Requirements may include project based work, compilation of existing data, research and analysis of new data, trend analysis and presentation creation.
  • Respond to client inquiries and regulatory requests by collecting and analyzing relevant data sets and investment information and formulating conclusions and recommendations . Leveraging problem- solving techniques and critical thinking in order to draw conclusions and develop client-ready presentations will be expected.
  • Act as primary analytical source for queries pertaining to sustainable investing, including the analysis of industry trends and investment themes, and staying abreast of client preferences and behavior across the globe. Contribute in developing and delivering training on sustainable investing topics to internal and external teams.
  • Contribute to the development of training tools, white papers and discussion guides to enhance MFS's distribution expertise and dialog with clients.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of all relevant issues related to client investment decisions including governance, investment policy and implementation issues.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree required; CFA, MBA or other Masters' degree strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a relevant field.
  • Demonstration of personal and/or professional interest, experience and aptitude for sustainability issues is required. An understanding of current sustainability topics, trends and best practices is preferred.
  • Demonstrate excellent critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to distill complex topics into simple and actionable messages required.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of quantitative tools and techniques, with the ability to perform quantitative analysis required. Demonstrate a deep understanding and comfort level with technical subject matter related to all asset classes and global capital markets. Experience of the following strongly preferred: Factset, Optimization software, BARRA, Bloomberg, Morningstar, MSCI.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required and some presentation experience required. Ability and willingness to create presentations, complex spreadsheet and discussion guides efficiently is required.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently as a member of a team comprised of highly qualified and technically oriented investment experts.
