Job Description The Managing Director - UK Sales works alongside the UK team and the other European sales people in developing, implementing, communicating and monitoring the UK and Ireland market sales strategies. This role also works closely with the Global Consultant Relations team to coordinate, support and maintain relationships with specific research and field consultants within certain global and local consulting firms, as well as in-house teams of major banks and insurance companies. This role reports to the Global Head of Consultant Relations.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Works collaboratively to develop and implement the UK and Ireland sales strategies, and ensure this aligns with the EMEA business plan and with MFS company strategy. Monitors industry trends, advises on company product development and develops a long-term strategy for marketing MFS' investment management to institutions to achieve sales goals. Works closely with the Relationship Management Team to encourage cross-selling opportunities.
  • Works collaboratively with the GCR team to build and coordinate the strategy for consultant coverage both at the research and field level in the UK and Ireland. Teams with the GCR team to build and maintain close working relationships with existing list of consultants.
  • Works collaboratively with on long-term brand building initiatives that help anchor the name awareness of MFS in its core distribution channels in the UK and Ireland. Participates in industry forums and in targeted press events as required. Is comfortable sharing MFS approved content on social media in an engaging way. Works with the UK marketing team to manage relationship with PR agency focused on UK institutional marketing.
  • Partners with the MFS portfolio managers, associate portfolio managers and research analysts when delivering presentations to pension sponsors, consultants or sub-advisor distributors.
  • Provides guidance and direction to junior members of sales team, and coordinates and monitors their efforts to ensure goals are met, or exceeded.
  • Arranges sales presentations, demonstrations and site visits for consultants and plan sponsor prospects. Participate in conducting these with colleagues and hosts independently as necessary.
  • Works collaboratively with the RFP team to ensure quality control of all consultant RFP responses.
  • Uses excellent communication skills and attention to detail to undertake the admin tasks that support the UK business development activities. These include, but are not limited to entering all meeting details in the CRM system, including pre and post meeting notes, and sharing information on internal messaging systems.
  • Leads activities for region across multiple lines of business. Monitors and measures for desired results and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with the Legal and Compliance teams to ensure sale practices are compliant with internal MFS regulations as well external rules, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate expertise in local regulatory framework and changes and country specific items that impact the region. Partner with Legal and Compliance to ensure new regulatory requirements are embedded into the sales practices.

JOB REQUIREMENTS :

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent. CFA and/or MBA desirable.
  • Experience in sales or consultant facing role with good technical knowledge.
  • Good investment knowledge to include significant expertise and experience in Fixed Income.
  • Thorough understanding of retirement industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation experience.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, management and influencing skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to effectively prioritize resources and manage multiple agendas
  • Global mindset and ability (and experience) of working in a global organization, leveraging and working in partnership/collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated expertise with database software, all components of Microsoft Office. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Travel within country will be required. Position requires FCA certification and compliance with Individual Conduct Rules
