Key responsibilities
  • Primary focus on the oversight and performance of regular valuations of illiquid fixed income and complex security investments
  • Preparation of valuation reports in line with regular valuation timetable
  • Oversight of periodic re-pricing of OTC derivative and securitisation investments
  • Formulating and robustly defending valuation opinions
  • Review of draft valuations performed by junior valuation staff
  • Development and update of valuation models
  • Collation of underlying financial data from investment managers, providing relevant challenge where necessary
  • Oversight and performance of valuation due diligence reviews
  • Attendance at Fair Value Committee meetings to provide relevant technical input to the Committee as required
  • Communication of key judgements and conclusions to investment accounting function
  • Documentation of procedures and controls
  • Preparation of committee reports
  • Assisting with the review and challenge of externally performed property valuations
  • Oversight of key administrative duties for the investment valuations function
  • Acting as key liaison with financial control
  • Management and delivery of various items of project work
  • Assisting external valuation advisers with the performance of the external valuation process
  • Assisting external auditors in the financial audit process


Your experience
  • Prior experience of both the oversight and performance of valuations of illiquid credit / fixed income assets as the primary function of a previous or existing role
  • Extensive prior experience of drafting valuation reports for use by a number of parties (e.g. external auditors)
  • Professionally Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), or other relevant financial qualification with significant exposure to investment appraisal techniques (e.g. CFA)
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Excellent level of Excel & financial modelling skills, working with integrated forecast models for large businesses
  • Experience of dealing with external clients or influencing at senior level within an organisation
