Job Purpose
To execute orders in Equity, Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange and Derivatives thereof, generated by the company's Portfolio Managers and ensuring 'best execution' following FCA/ESMA regulatory standards, Newton's Order Execution Policy, Newton Risk & Compliance Manual and Newton Dealing internal policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • To provide 'best execution' for all orders across global markets in Equity, Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange and Derivatives thereof.
  • To manage all orders with a particular focus on market impact and timing of transactions.
  • Be able to demonstrate natural leadership and an ability to deputise for the Head of Dealing when required.
  • Be able to analyse, process and interpret large trading data sets using quantitative/statistical skills to improve the dealing process.
  • Monitor executions day to day in real time as part of main fiduciary duties.
  • To advise/update Portfolio Managers on current order progress, interacting face to face as much as possible.
  • Provide market information and activity to Portfolio Managers and all areas of the business where necessary.
  • To discuss possible trading ideas and strategies with Portfolio Managers.
  • To maintain strong relationships with external counterparties and improve business flexibility.
  • To assist in IT development for Dealing and improve the usability of dealing related software.
  • Maintain competency on all trading platforms and all aspects of evolving market structure and methods of execution
  • To maintain a high level of compliance awareness in all aspects of trading and adhere to Newton Risk & Compliance policies with particular emphasis on TCF and Conflicts of Interest.
  • To represent Newton Investment Management in the marketplace.
  • To maintain internal relationships and provide support to the wider Newton community in respect to any dealing related queries.
  • Liaise with the Newton Operations department to assist in the transaction settlement process and problem solving.
  • Regularly review the Newton Dealing Procedures Manual and keep abreast of changes to this and other dealing related policies.
  • Challenge and upgrade current processes and procedures whist adding new ideas and initiatives to the team debate.
  • Attend relevant industry conferences and counterparty led seminars to keep updated on market and regulatory developments.
  • Keep CPD log up to date throughout the year.
  • Raise profile of the Newton Dealing Team.
  • Support and assist the Head of Dealing when necessary.


Qualifications
  • Multi asset trading capability 5-10 years' experience
  • (this includes listed and OTC derivatives)
  • Highly numerate, graduate calibre
  • A strong quantitative/data analysis capability
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Solid understanding of research and investment (e.g. CFA but not essential)
  • Preferred Python/other programming skills
