Our client is one of the largest pension schemes in the UK. The scheme invests across a diversified range of asset classes from public equity and debt, to real estate, private equity, private debt, infrastructure and shipping. They are looking for an Investment Analyst. The role primarily involves supporting the investment and strategy teams in the investment of assets.

Tasks and activities include:
  • Support the team by maintaining models, databases and helping to manage the flow of information.
  • Development of skills in research, report writing and communication.
  • Extract more value from the consultant databases: investment ideas, manager alerts, fund raising and performance data.
  • Assist the front office in gathering the input required to implement straightforward investment decisions such as asset sales to fund ongoing liquidity requirements.
  • Develop meeting skills, identifying key issues and risks.
  • Gather data/ information for research projects (macro based and thematic deep dives).
  • Assist generally with the expected returns and help to improve data sources, methodologies, macro assumptions.

Strong numerical, excel and technical skills are a positive as is an active interest in the finance industry and in gaining knowledge of the different asset classes covered by the fund. Climate and ESG are important themes for the pension schemes so a personal interest in that would be helpful. Additionally, the scheme encourages team members to study for the CFA exams, which are fully supported.
