An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Commercial Banking, Markets audit team in the UK as a Portfolio Lead focusing on capital markets and sales & trading business activities. LBCM Markets is a dynamic business providing financial solutions to clients across Bond Financing - Origination and Syndication, FX and Rates trading products.

As an Internal Audit Portfolio Lead you will be the point person for providing direct oversight and execution of successful value adding audit engagements. The individual will assist in developing the scope of audits, devising appropriate testing approaches to be performed during the engagements, and leading the auditors assigned to the project to an effective and high quality product outcome. In this role, the Portfolio Lead will actively engage predominately with senior members of the Markets and Capital Markets business across the first and second lines of defence either via audit work or through attendance at various business and risk committees. The role also involves utilising technical expertise, including the application of data analytics and developing and coaching the Internal Audit team in the skills required to deliver the audit engagements to a high standard covering the right risks and controls.

You will also be responsible for managing a portfolio of issues initially raised in audits that require close monitoring with the business and validation in line with audit methodology. In addition, the Portfolio Lead will be responsible for establishing and managing the continuous monitoring strategy of the Markets portfolio. This includes attending audit and business meetings, attendance at key committees, document and sharing key business insights, and supporting other continuous monitoring activities.

Specifically, the key responsibilities will include:
  • Undertaking effective ongoing monitoring of key elements primarily related to the Markets and Capital Markets portfolio highlighting key risk issues to the business and senior audit management team.
  • Own the work assignment and be responsible for the quality, timely delivery of work in line with audit methodology as well as the work performed by the team so that minimal amendments are required.
  • Assist the Head of Audit, in aspects of the maintenance of the audit universe, risk assessments and audit plans where required.
  • Support the team / department on strategy and approach for coverage of the Markets activities on a front to back basis.
  • Understand and develop specialist areas of subject matter expertise in Markets business areas, products and associated risks on a front to back basis.
  • Build and maintain constructive relationships with key stakeholders and auditees within the audit engagements or areas of continuous monitoring.
  • Work collaboratively with all Internal Audit colleagues as well as taking ownership for the delivery and execution of key GIA or team specific initiatives.

Experience:
  • Experience of Commercial Banking and Markets activities working in Internal or External Audit or within a Risk Function. Essential - Professionally qualified: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA etc).
  • Strong understanding of risks and controls with the Markets/ Capital Markets on a front to back basis. In addition a strong technical and business understanding of financial products, their risks and how they generate revenues.
  • Knowledge of how to use or apply data analytics to drive impact audit outcomes, continuous risk monitoring and data analysis.
  • A good understanding of regulatory environment in particular FCA and PRA Handbooks.
