The Location: Canary Wharf, London

The Team:
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our Sovereign and International Public Finance (SovIPF) Ratings group as a credit analyst at the Associate Director level. The team's focus is on fundamental economic and financial analysis of local and regional governments, universities, housing associations, as well as healthcare sector in the UK, the Netherlands and Ireland.
The Impact:
The successful candidate will assume direct analytical responsibility for a portfolio of credits in the region, conducting site visits, preparing the analysis, and presenting a rating recommendation to committee. He/she is also expected to make contribute and sometime take a lead on the group's research and other publishing efforts, including cooperation with other groups within S&P Global ratings.

Responsibilities:
Have keen interest in public policy, economics and financial affairs and quickly absorb, analyse, and act upon information to maintain and enhance the quality and timeliness of our analysis.
  • Undertake rigorous research and analytical work, and write well-structured analytical reports.
  • Present detailed information, reasoned opinions, and a rating recommendation to our credit rating committees.
  • Demonstrate analytical excellence and good presentation skills in front of internal and external audiences, to explain our credit rating opinions both internally as well as externally, to investors and the media.
  • Provide highest customer service standards, whilst adhering to established ratings criteria, methodology, policies and procedures.
  • Support the analytical growth of Junior analysts in the region, by providing timely feedback and coaching them on core analytical skills.
  • Co-ordinate work across a number of teams within S&P Global.
What We're Looking For:
Basic Qualifications:
  • Strong skills in comparative economic and financial analysis of in the public sector, in particular Housing Associations, Universities, Healthcare Sector, Local and Regional governments, and in financial markets in general.
  • Strong analytical mindset with proven ability to carry out economic and financial analysis in a cross-disciplinary context, and good knowledge of public sector accounting principles.
  • Knowledge and experience of FCA and CRA3 ratings regulations and ratings process in the public sector in EMEA.
  • Sound judgement and organisational skills. Proven team player.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills in English.
  • An advanced academic degree in economics or related fields such as business administration, finance or political science.
  • Strong and professional interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Over five years of work experience in UK or international public finance analysis, or a related field of analysis.
  • CFA charter or other professional qualifications are not required but would be highly preferred.
