- Drive strong investment performance Alcentra's private credit strategies
- Help develop and implement Alcentra's business strategy to grow in the alternative credit market
- Assist the CEO in transforming the Alcentra culture and brand from being a reliable credit expert to a dynamic credit partner focused on collaboration, creativity and commitment
- Serve as a thought partner and sounding board to the CEO on all manner of business issues
- Drive better coordination with our parent, BNY Mellon, to leverage their extensive global resources to drive business performance
Key Responsibilities :
- Oversee the private credit process at Alcentra from idea generation to execution, including diligence, approval and monitoring
- Chair the private credit investment committee
- Work with the team on continued improvements to drive performance
- Serve as the lead portfolio manager in most of Alcentra's direct lending and private credit strategies
- Actively participate on various internal efforts and committees including valuation and risk
- Represent Alcentra to stakeholders including BNY sales teams, BNY Wealth Management, outside investors and consultants
- Support development of new products and strategies
- Serve as a principal spokesperson for Alcentra's private credit strategies to the trade press and general media
- Maintain relationships with providers of financing and key private equity sponsors
- Manage all aspects of human capital management and development including performance reviews, compensation and the hiring of experienced team members
- Evaluate new business opportunities including possible acquisitions and business partnerships
Nature of the Work:
- This executive possesses a track record of meeting crucial deadlines, progress goals, and is accustomed to work hours similar to high performance professional service firms
- This role carries a high degree of responsibility and decision-making ability
- Modest travel is required as this individual will be a point person with investors around the world
Experience required:
- Proven track record as a portfolio manager and leader of a credit business
- Strong existing investor relationships and credibility with allocators of credit including consultants and advisors as well as LPs
- Ability to provide strong leadership, mentoring and problem-solving guidance to investment team members
- Expert knowledge of the private credit market and understanding of the broader credit markets
- Excellent analytical skills and quantitative orientation
- Strong working knowledge of fund structures including closed-end funds and separately managed accounts
- Candidates will have a strong analytical framework to process complicated issues and problem solve and have a bias for action. Intellectual leadership and first-line business judgement are essential
- Given the strong communication requirements, the CIO should be a native/fluent English speaker who has extensive experience interacting with investors and media outlets
- Must be a team builder, with ability to develop/supervise professionals while keeping production up/team on task. The individual should have a growth mindset, must be a team player, have exceptional interpersonal/influencing skills, a positive attitude and humble on the ego scale
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Business Administration or similar field or CFA Certificate
- Experience operating in a regulated financial environment, especially in the US or UK
