About Woozle Research

Woozle Research is a multi-award-winning independent equity research firm that provides highly specialised and bespoke research to the world's biggest institutional investors. With insights featured in CNBC, Reuters and Bloomberg - our unique primary research methodology delivers leading and differentiated insights sourced directly from subject-matter experts and key company stakeholders to provide our clients with a deeper understanding of their investments and allow them to realise even greater returns.

You can learn more about us by visiting www.woozleresearch.com

Woozle's Event-Driven Research team is made up of Equity Research Analysts that work exclusively on delivering custom-research projects for investors. The team is named "Event-Driven" because clients typically commission this team to conduct primary research based on catalyst events such as a company releasing a new product, a hedge fund taking a large position in a company, or a potential M&A deal that a private equity fund is evaluating in order to make a potential bid for the company.

Woozle's Event-Driven Research team works on high-value projects for investment professionals. Woozle works exclusively with institutional investment firms across the Hedge Fund, Private Equity, and Mutual Fund industries. Clients commission us to complete interviews and surveys with key company stakeholders such as clients, customers, distributors, suppliers, and industry experts to help them get a more leading, accurate, and unique insight into how a company is performing so that they can make a more informed investment decision.

We are looking to recruit an Equity Analyst to our Event-Driven Research team in London as we expand our coverage to help capitalise on strong growth across both our research offering and client base. Your primary responsibility will be to find, recruit, and complete interviews with industry experts and then to write investment research reports for private equity and public equity clients based on your conversations.

In order to do this, you will be required to identify and cultivate relationships with relevant subject-matter experts and industry sources across the world in order to conduct high-level research that is able to add value and provide an informational edge to some of the world's largest private and public equity investors.

You may have to spend considerable time reaching out to people via phone or email and assessing whether they possess the information that will allow you to produce either top-down or bottom-up analysis of a company or sector.

As part of the role, you will spend a lot of time on the phone with industry experts and professional investors to discuss business and commercial trends across a variety of industries and sectors. You will quickly develop a deep and solid understanding of the companies and sectors that we are commissioned to channel check. You may be working on several client requests at once and will quickly develop efficient project management and communication skills, while also being able to communicate your understanding effectively to some of the largest institutional investors in the world.

The Event-Driven Research Team's workflow is very dependent on M&A activity, deal pipelines, and large-conviction calls from hedge fund clients therefore working hours and schedules can be highly variable and fluctuate from time to time.

A newly hired Equity Research Analyst in the Event-Driven Research Team will be responsible for:
  • Completing due diligence research on corporate investment targets for clients.
  • Identifying and connecting with relevant industry experts to cultivate long-lasting relationships.
  • Writing up interview transcripts, notes, and feedback from expert calls.
  • Collating, organising, and analysing qualitative/quantitative information.
  • Writing equity research reports and presenting findings comprehensively.
  • Updating and keeping track of news flow on specific companies including earnings releases as well as industry inflexion points.
  • Answering client queries on data via email, over the phone or in person.
  • Suggest updates to survey questionnaires based on company and industry news and developments.
  • Identify and research new companies to cover.
  • Cultivate a new business development pipeline to grow client coverage.
  • Pitch innovative new product offerings to our clients.

Successful candidates will possess the following:
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Bachelor's degree from a reputable university.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • A passion for Equity analysis and the stock market.
  • Competency at report writing including presentation, formatting, editing, producing charts and graphics.
  • An excellent eye for detail, quality and consistency to ensure the highest possible professional standards for reports.
  • A proven track record in managing and completing multiple projects to tight deadlines whilst still maintaining a high level of quality.
  • The ability to build a rapport and develop lasting relationships with subject experts met either through phone, video, or email.
  • Be driven and ambitious with the motivation to take on additional responsibilities should the opportunity arise.
  • 1-3 years experience in investment banking (Equity Research, M&A), asset management or consulting firms is required.

£40k salary + uncapped profit-sharing annual bonus plan expected to be between 20% and 40% of base subject to individual and company performance. Woozle also offers payment towards relevant professional qualifications (e.g. CFA). Woozle promotes flexible working with the ability to work remotely 2 days a week.
