The Role:

The Investment Data Management Team is responsible for delivering and overseeing business-critical data for stakeholders across a number of key applications.

This role represents an exciting opportunity to be part of the Investment Data Sourcing team, focused on delivering accurate and timely security-level data to the business units throughout M&G, primarily through the core investment platform, Aladdin. The role provides a great opportunity to develop an understanding of the M&G business and the data environment which supports it.

The successful candidate will be a strong leader with a proactive attitude, the ability to deliver work to a high standard and provide a high-quality data service to customers, regulators and key stakeholders, using skills and experience built through significant practical experience or training.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Liaise and work collaboratively with Investment Data Management's key stakeholders including Fund Managers, Dealers, Credit Analysts, Performance, Risk, Compliance, Client Reporting, and Investment Operations.
  • Manage direct reports; conducting regular 1:1's to understand progress and issues, annual performance reviews and appraisals.
  • Daily creation and maintenance of private and complex asset types on the internal investment platform to support key stakeholders.
  • Source and verify data quality (Bloomberg Data Management Service/Data Platform) from appropriate sources to ensure it is accurate and supplied in a timely manner against the business data requirements, ensuring it is fully supported within all required systems.
  • Source and manage the oversight of data from third party providers, escalating to the appropriate business unit(s) where necessary.
  • Investigate data issues, working with data analysts and management to establish an appropriate resolution.
  • Manage the shared mailbox on behalf of the Investment Data Management Team, including support of third-party queries.
  • Support the implementation of controls and procedures throughout the Investment Data Sourcing Team.
  • Proactively realise opportunities for improvements to drive change across the Investment Data Management Team.
  • Provide subject matter expert support for strategic projects.
  • Responsible for oversight of client appointed third parties aligned to business and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee operational data support for regulatory data submissions.
  • Ensure that key risks regarding data are understood and controlled effectively in line with M&G Operational Risk Policy.
  • Responsible for production of the team's operational MI.

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • Strong understanding of instruments across the suite of asset classes M&G in which invest (fixed income, securitised debt, public equity, ETD & OTC derivatives, leveraged loans, private debt, private equity)
  • Proactive self-starter, with the ability to identify problems and follow them through to resolution.
  • Pride in working to high standards in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to record and communicate clearly and effectively
  • Appreciation and experience of the requirements of an operational control environment.
  • Knowledge of data required to support an investment book of record (i.e. securities, issuers, position, transaction, fund, benchmark, counterparty)
  • Excellent attention to detail, and ability to work efficiently to set deadlines.
  • Ability to generate and maintain positive relationships within the team and across the business.
  • Delivery and service focussed, capable of managing the demands of business-as-usual and change initiatives.
  • Strong management experience, and can manage all activities relating to performance and career development.
  • Excellent understanding of the IT infrastructure and data environment
  • Understand the investment industry, including knowledge of:
  • financial, reference, valuation and instrument data across various asset classes
  • best practices and processes; appreciating requirements of an operational control environment
  • clients, products and the regulations under which they operate

Beneficial:
  • Good working knowledge of Bloomberg, Refinitiv, Aladdin.
  • Experience with Private Debt investments
  • Advanced Excel skills, with ability to use VBA.
  • Knowledge of SQL.
  • Experience of data visualisation tools such as Power BI.
  • IMC or CFA Level 1.
  • Experience in asset pricing a bonus.
