S&P Dow Jones Indices

The role: Director, Global Equity Indices Product Management
The location: London
The grade: G13 (internal use only)

The team
S&P DJI indices are used as the basis of investment products and to benchmark portfolio performance. S&P DJI indices are the foundation of some of the world's leading exchange traded derivatives, ETFs, structured products, OTC instruments, index funds in addition to being the benchmark for investment portfolios.

The Global Equities Product Management team provides insights and thought leadership on S&P DJI's global equity and real estate index suite and is responsible for the overall product strategy and financial health of the product line. This spans a wide range of products including global benchmarks such as the S&P Global BMI and S&P Global 1200 as well as regional index series such as the S&P/TSX Canadian Indices and S&P/ASX Australian Indices. The team also helps to develop new benchmarks for market participants and promotes their potential applications.

The impact
We are looking for a Director to support our initiatives in the EMEA and Asia-Pacific regions. The role of a Product Manager is broad and varied like that of a general manager - externally as a product expert when speaking with clients, at events, and with the media; and internally as the owner of the product development process in addition to the financial health of the product line.

This role will oversee a range of indices including global benchmarks such as the S&P Global BMI and S&P Global 1200 as well as style (value & growth), sector & industry, and equal weight versions of several global and regional indices. In addition, this role will have oversight of our U.S. and global real estate index families.

What's in it for you
You will join a high performing team where you will have the opportunity to learn from local and international colleagues while overseeing a wide range of index products.

As the investment industry is undergoing a tremendous structural shift brought about by technological changes and by the shift from active to passive investing, this position sits squarely at the epicenter of this evolution

The role will allow the Director to have impactful exposure to multiple groups within S&P DJI (Marketing and Communications, Channel management, Research & Design, Index Development, Client Coverage, and others), to clients such as structured product desks, asset managers and asset owners, exchanges, and other financial technology and data players

Responsibilities
  • Establish product strategies, develop product positioning, and help to drive the commercial success of our global equities franchise, especially outside of the Americas.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on index methodologies
  • Promote our indices via webinars, conferences, media appearances, and client meetings
  • Publish thought leadership including presentations, papers, blogs, index analysis, and commentary
  • Oversee the new index launch process
  • Work with client coverage and channel management to strengthen our relationships with all client types
  • Collaborate with a wide range of internal teams including research & design, marketing, the client experience team, governance, the index management and production group, and communications.
What we're looking for
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent in finance or a related field is required.
  • Masters degree or equivalent in a relevant field or progress towards a CFA Charter holder is strongly preferred.
  • Expertise related to REITs and listed real estate securities is strongly desired alongside broad knowledge of global equity markets
  • Understanding of the investment process, investment management industry, portfolio theory, and financial markets is required.
  • Knowledge of indexing, passive investing and understanding of S&P DJI global equity indices is desired.
  • The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in product development and/or research.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills as well as attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Programming skills (Python, VBA, others) are preferred.
  • Knowledge of analytical platforms such as FactSet, Capital IQ, Evestment and Morningstar is preferred.
