Who we're looking for

A Product Governance Manager with a broad investment background to support our global product governance framework.

The role revolves around the quarterly Asset Class Risk & Performance Committee (ACRPC) framework where Schroders' investment funds and mandates are reviewed and challenged by committee members, including Product Governance.

We are looking for someone with excellent written skills and attention to detail to co-ordinate our Quarterly Investment Performance Reporting (QIPR) process. You will collate attribution commentaries for underperforming funds then draft product governance reports for submission to Management Committees and Boards. These bespoke reports detail fund performance and other relevant product governance topics. As such, the candidate must be capable of writing about and understanding broad investment themes and responding to questions on these. Over time, the successful candidate will need to develop a detailed understanding of the Schroders' global product range.

The role involves working closely with other Schroders teams including Investment, Investment Performance, Investment Risk and other Product teams.

The successful candidate will have previous experience in a fund management / multi-manager environment, perhaps in an analyst or product specialist role, with a broad knowledge of the main asset classes, including alternatives.

The candidate does not need to have previous Product Governance experience but should have a good understanding of the regulatory environment for product, both in the UK and Europe, including the FCA Assessment of Value.

About Schroders

We're a global investment manager. We help institutions, intermediaries and individuals around the world invest money to meet their goals, fulfil their ambitions, and prepare for the future.

We have around 5,000 people on six continents. And we've been around for over 200 years, but keep adapting as society and technology changes. What doesn't change is our commitment to helping our clients, and society, prosper.

The base

We moved into our HQ in the City of London in 2018. We're close to our clients, in the heart of the UK's financial centre. And we have everything we need to work flexibly.

The role is based in London.

The team

The Product Governance team is responsible for implementing and maintaining Schroders' global product governance framework and supporting board level product accountability across Schroders in order to safeguard the best interests of investors throughout the product lifecycle. This includes the delivery of the FCA Assessment of Value and associated reporting requirements in the UK. The core constituents of the product governance framework are the Asset Class Risk and Performance Committees (ACRPCs) and the Group Product Governance Committee (PGC).

What you'll do

• Co-ordinate and maintain the Quarterly Investment Performance Report (QIPR) process, requesting investment fund under-performance commentaries from global Investment Directors using our workflow tool.
• Attend a series of quarterly Asset Class Risk and Performance Committees (ACRPCs) across multiple asset classes, representing the Product Governance team. Read pre-meeting material, ask questions and challenge fund performance and risk with the end investor's interests in mind. Particular focus is on any product "deep dives".
• Using these investment commentaries and with information discussed at the ACRPCs, draft a series of quarterly Board reports that are presented to the respective Schroder Boards and Management Committees globally. These reports form the basis of Product Governance oversight and are read and challenged by a senior audience within the organisation.
• Work closely with colleagues in the APAC region regarding the Product Governance reports presented at APAC Executive Committees and Management forums.
• Draft a quarterly performance report presented at the Product Governance Committee, summarising the most recent quarter's investment commentaries and product deep dives. Attend the Product Governance Committee and actively engage on agenda items.
• Assist with the performance related aspects of the annual UK Assessment of Value process.
• Contribute to ideas for investment product "deep dives" with the Head of Investment.
• Maintain a schedule of upcoming Boards and Committees to track report production versus agreed deadlines.
• Maintain good relationships and work with key stakeholders across the global business including other Product teams, Investment, Performance, Investment Risk, Compliance and Legal.
• Maintain a good knowledge of current investment markets.
• Maintain an awareness of global product governance regulatory developments.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need

• Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to respond to investment related questions.
• Excellent attention to detail and procedure.
• Ability to multitask across multiple Schroders' fund ranges and asset classes.
