Investment Associate - UK Pension Fund
£35,000 - £45,000 + bonus + benefits

The role is to become part of a team that invests for two pension funds that are amongst the best-known institutional investors in the UK. You will be part of a small in-house team, which means you can expect to have broad exposure to different aspects of the job from day one. In return, you will receive support and development from senior team members and be able to work in an environment where diversity of thought is welcomed

The pension funds invest across a diversified range of asset classes from public equity and debt, to real estate, private equity, private debt, infrastructure, and shipping. Climate and ESG are important themes for the schemes so you will be expected to assist with specialist sustainability and stewardship projects. The investment associate role primarily involves supporting the investment and strategy teams in the investment of those assets. The fund also encourages all team members to study for the CFA exams, which are fully supported.

Tasks and activities include:
  • Support the team by maintaining models, databases and helping to manage the flow of information.
  • Development of skills in research, report writing, and communication.
  • Extract more value from the consultant databases: investment ideas, manager alerts, fundraising, and performance data.
  • Assist the front office in gathering the input required to implement straightforward investment decisions such as asset sales to fund ongoing liquidity requirements.
  • Develop meeting skills, identifying key issues and risks.
  • Gather data/ information for research projects (macro-based and thematic deep dives).
  • Assist generally with the expected returns and help to improve data sources, methodologies, macro assumptions.

About you:
  • Strong numerical, excel, and technical skills
  • Active interest in the finance industry and in gaining knowledge of the different asset classes covered.
  • Climate and ESG are important themes for the pension schemes so a personal interest in that would be helpful.
  • Someone who is flexible, well organised, has strong attention to detail, and is keen to learn - as a small team the associate will work closely with all other members of the team and this is an excellent opportunity to learn.
