Department overview:

This exciting role is based within the Financial Institutions Business Relationship Management (FI BRM) group in London, reporting to a Senior Director responsible for Non Bank Financial Institutions (NBFI). The principal objective of the team is to originate new NBFI rating and ESG mandates and to manage and optimise existing relationships with NBFI issuers and other market participants.

Responsibilities:

The motivated and detail-oriented individual will be a key member of the NBFI BRM team, supporting outreach activities through a variety of channels, working with London-based team members and also with colleagues in other locations in EMEA and globally.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the marketing efforts of senior team members as well as building their own relationships. From the outset, the role will enjoy a significant degree of autonomy and responsibility, with excellent opportunities for self- and career development.

This role will suit someone who is seeking to expand their network of capital markets professionals, analyse and pursue growth opportunities in the FI space and who is keen to develop a career in a front-line business generation and relationship management role.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Research and preparation of business development materials

Prepare pitch books, case studies and tombstones. Develop new persuasive business development materials to support marketing efforts. Research marketing angles or areas where Fitch can gain traction and differentiate itself from competitors.

  • Analyse and develop new business opportunities

Identify new NBFI business opportunities related to credit and ESG ratings. Develop and execute marketing plans to pursue opportunities for generating new rating mandates.

  • Marketing meetings

Help with organizing client and other external meetings and prepare appropriate background information as required. Attend external meetings with senior team members and assist proactively in following up on action points. Take an active role in meetings and interact with external parties, building relationships with a range of debt capital market participants.

  • Support the Senior Director in managing relationships with existing NBFI clients.

  • Events

Represent Fitch at internal and external industry events / conferences. Network with market participants, gather market intelligence and promote Fitch's value proposition.

  • Reporting

Attend internal meetings and prepare periodic reports for both internal and external distribution. Utilise Salesforce to record marketing activity, manage targeted mailing, and measure performance.

  • Capital markets data analysis

Utilise debt capital markets data (provided by Bloomberg, Reuters, FactSet, Dealogic, etc.) to monitor market activity. Manage and update databases, identify and analyse trends relevant to Fitch Ratings' NBFI business development efforts, and develop tools to support BRMs broader marketing objectives. Assist with and conduct competitor intelligence analysis.

  • Business planning

Support BRM team members in developing and monitoring business plans and new credit and ESG ratings pipeline.

  • Preparation of commercial agreements

Support contract negotiation and other duties/administration with external counterparties including preparing engagement letters etc. required for rating mandates.

This role requires the candidate to work within an ever-changing and dynamic business environment. The candidate must be enthusiastic, a team player and have a can-do positive attitude.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Motivation and enthusiasm to help originate and deliver increased NBFI mandate flow
  • Financial industry experience, ideally gained through exposure to debt capital markets, banking, corporate finance, or credit analysis. Prior exposure to the NBFI sector and ESG expertise viewed as a plus.
  • Strong people skills to liaise with colleagues and external market relationships
  • University degree, preferably in a business-related discipline
  • Other professional or business qualification (e.g. Master's degree, MBA, CFA) an advantage
  • Strong marketing and interpersonal skills are a pre-requisite with a successful track record of developing commercial relationships and opportunities
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, verbal and written - be able to speak confidently at all levels. Strong English language skills a must. Other language skills viewed as a plus.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of research, analysis and interpretation of large data sets.
  • Team oriented, with ability to effectively build relationships both externally and internally
  • Knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel and experience of Bloomberg, Reuters and other market tools
  • Experience with CRM systems such as Salesforce would be useful - including report generation and Excel downloads
  • Ability to work independently within a strategic framework, with supervision and guidance from senior team members, and demonstrating the flexibility and commitment to meet tight deadlines
  • Self-starter with strong delivery ethos, detail oriented and first-class organisational skills.
