Key Responsibilities
  • To identify, develop and review preferred climate metrics that enable an assessment of the impact of climate change on the Group's investments and for evaluating the success of the Group's management actions.
  • To lead the development of climate related targets in the context of the Group's investment portfolio; this includes the development of science-based targets and managing the SBTi target validation and ongoing reporting process.
  • To oversee the decarbonisation trajectory of the Group's investment portfolio against publicly stated targets and to develop a monitoring and reporting framework; to collaborate with other teams to develop and maintain a medium-term decarbonisation roadmap.
  • To collaborate closely with internal stakeholders (Central Sustainability team and Line 2) and present proposals and provide updates to senior stakeholders and Committees (e.g. CRO, CSO, Board Committees, TCFD Steering Committee)
  • To horizon scan to keep abreast of market trends and best practice for managing investments with respect to climate risks and opportunities; to respond to industry consultations and to represent the companyexternally where appropriate (e.g. industry roundtable, at collaborative bodies such as SBTi where we are a member).

Experience
  • 10 + years experrience in total with some time spent in a climate focused role
  • a strong understanding of investment and risk management techniques including familiarity with different asset classes.
  • understanding of 'ESG' as a concept and the role it plays for institutional investment
  • Sound understanding of the principles of climate finance (how to measure finance emissions, decarbonisation techniques etc.).
  • experience of institutional investments in an asset management, investment consultancy or in house (insurance/pension-fund) setting is ideal; understanding of life insurance business is a plus.

Essential

• Self-starter with good project management skills

• Strong numerical and quantitative background

• Excellent written and verbal presentation skills

• Proficient in use of MS Excel and other Office Applications

• CFA, actuarial or equivalent qualification.
