Portfolio Operations | Your New Team & Role

Our Portfolio Operations Team is now looking to hire a new Senior Analyst!

Currently a team of 5, this role supports both trade operations and investment data management related activities, including the investment process to capture, maintain and improve investment data in order to produce complete, accurate and timely investment and accounting books of record to effectively manage the Fund's exposures on a daily basis.

The team works closely with the growing Dealing & Execution team here in London along with the data management & trade operations teams in Melbourne.

Working with a Manager with over 15 years of expertise in the area, along with a Senior Manager for Investment Operations with 20 years' experience, you will be supported by those having a wealth of knowledge across the fund and operations space.

London Office

To support the ongoing growth of the Fund, we established a permanent team in London nearly 6 years ago.

This enables the Fund to expand its global investment portfolio and build our international profile by having a permanent presence in Europe and hiring local specialists who will deepen our international relationships and support implementing local best practice based on local experience. We are also growing our office in New York that recently opened.

In a small-scale office environment, currently about 50 people, you will be exposed to professionals across all our Investment Asset classes, as well as other functions and groups that support them and the Fund. This gives you the chance to build broad relationships, gain a deeper understanding of how each of these areas operate and get involved in activities outside of your immediate role or team.

Our office is based at 2 Pancras Square in Kings Cross which is part of the Kings Cross redevelopment project, one of the core assets of our investment portfolio! Along with the Property team, we also having growing teams in Infrastructure and Private Credit, supported by Legal, Tax, Risk, Technology, People & Culture, and Finance.

As London on-boards more functionality, individuals can be expected to support a variety of teams from Australia including; Cash & Collateral, Investment Operations and Portfolio Oversight.

Your new role

Senior Analysts within Portfolio Operations are responsible for supporting both trade operations and investment data management related activities, including:

Trade Operations:
  • Ensure executed trades are processed accurately, conducting post trade confirmations with counter-parties and providing trade instructions to custodian.
  • Working with security types including equity, fixed income, FX, ETDs and OTC Swaps
  • Resolve trade confirmation and settlement issues effectively
  • Work and engage with service providers, counter parties and internal stakeholders proactively
  • Ensure broker/counter party set up & maintenance is completed in the Portfolio Management System
  • Keep up to date with lifecycle events of fixed income OTC and FX forward instruments
  • Awareness of regulatory reporting and impact

Data Management:
  • Validating Portfolio Management System on platforms, translating term sheets, loans, etc.
  • Provide proactive problem-solving, and escalate queries where needed
  • Daily database monitoring and control tasks, ensuring timely data delivery, and resolving data exceptions.


In addition to:
  • Maintain strong relationships with software and data vendors, technology team, investment departments and custodians etc
  • Deal with deadlines and time-frames for investment and platform activities.
  • Development further knowledge of the Fund's Operational environment and keep up to date on industry markets.


What you'll need:

  • Significant experience in investment management or pension fund/asset owner with investment operations capability.
  • A broad and deep understanding of financial markets and financial instruments across multiple asset classes.
  • Trade operations experience on the "Buy Side" including execution support (with the market) &/or order management support (with custodians /administrators).
  • Strong understanding of data management functions and usage of investment data in its various forms, structures and outcomes to meet end user requirements.
  • Experience in Aladdin is highly desirable.
  • Proficient user of trade confirmation platforms (Omgeo CTM, MarkitWire, DS Match, ICE Clear, FXall).
  • Relevant degree in Finance or equivalent qualifications

In addition, you will have strong investigation, data analytical and attention to detail skills, as well as the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders You will also have the ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
