Macquarie's Green Investment Group is looking for a Contract Manager to support its rapidly growing global energy storage business.

Green Investment Group's global energy storage business develops, builds, owns and operates grid scale battery storage projects across a number of markets globally including Australia and the UK. This role is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join the team as the business looks to move to the next phase of growth in becoming a global market leader.

In this newly created role, you will be working closely with the Technical Project Manager and reporting to the General Counsel to deliver the execution strategy during the development and construction phase as well leading supply chain liaison activities. You will be responsible for the overall contracting strategy policies and processes for the entire EMEA project pipeline, ensuring project suppliers deliver against time and budget targets. You will lead on the engagement and negotiation with external suppliers and project partners and will review all contracts to ensure maximum commercial value for the project. You will be working in a project team to scope packages of work, run commercial tenders and seek new partnerships (frameworks etc) across the project lifecycle for the whole pipeline of project. You will have full responsibility for developing and negotiating new contracts with new suppliers as well as analysing and overseeing existing project contracts through the execution phase.

Based in London, your role will comprise the following key responsibilities:
  • Supporting the wider team with all Contract related tasks required to progress [region] energy storage development activities
  • Leading EMEA supply chain liaison and developing new partnerships with suppliers
  • Leading EMEA tender processes for new EPC work packages and evaluating responses
  • Leading pre-construction negotiations with EPC suppliers (drafting Heads of Terms, reviewing Engineering Requirements/managing warranty terms/EPC terms) and generally driving the projects towards financial commitment by securing a suite of comprehensive construction contracts that deliver long term value for the asset.
  • Co-ordination and budget management for use of external suppliers e.g external legal counsel
  • Co-ordination with other regional leads on global supply chain contracts and procurement, seeking to increase contract value by leveraging global scale
  • Execution of the Contracts for projects in the construction phase ensuring projects are executed in accordance with the Contract and helping them to achieve their stated goals (HSE, budget, programme, quality). This will include leading on variations, contract amendments, processing securities, management of claims and disputes etc.

You will bring extended expertise and professional experience in construction contract development and negotiations on long-term infrastructure projects, preferably gained in an international context in the energy sector (energy storage experience preferable, not essential). Your experience in English / Scottish law construction contracts including CDM along with a strong sense of responsibility, self-confident manner, professional communicative skills, and high level of flexibility and ability to cooperate with project partners in a constructive manner will hold you in good stead to be successful in this role.

You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise at all levels. You will need to be ambitious, motivated and have the drive to succeed. Being a team player, in addition to having strong quantitative and analytical skills will be crucial to your success.
