Our Data, Technology and Innovation Division provides expertise in regulation and business and technology change, with a current focus on project delivering the FCA's strategic goal to become a more data led regulator.

The Division has many diverse teams, ranging from architecture and analysis experts who structure and design our systems, through to business partners who manage stakeholder relationships and programme managers who provide expertise in change delivery. We also have technically focussed Product Group teams, delivering both coding and system changes and who maintain our IT services and systems.

We are looking for strong Project Management professionals to join our portfolio teams and help deliver an ambitious portfolio of change. Successful candidates will have a track record in project delivery, including technology and/or business change.

The postholder will have the opportunity to make their mark by joining the FCA at a key point in time as it goes through a major transformation to become a data led regulator. The pipeline of initiatives will drive the future ways of working for the FCA to ensure that we continue to meet our statutory objectives of protecting consumers, protect and enhance integrity in the UK financial system and promoting effective competition in the interests of consumers far into the future.

The Opportunity

As a Project Manager your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
  • Delivering projects from inception to agreed business outcomes, following FCA quality standards within agreed tolerances of time, budget and scope.
  • Developing the project plan, deliverables and milestones to successfully deliver the business outcomes. Identifying and sourcing resources to achieve time, quality and cost expectations.
  • Resolving dependencies, issues and risks.
  • Ensure delivery adheres to the FCA Project Management Policies, Standards and Methods and Governance Framework, as well as any relevant legal requirements such as the Public Sector Equality Duty, GDPR etc.
  • Building and managing stakeholder relationships across the FCA, managing expectations, defining and agreeing scope, facilitating key decisions.
  • Active participant in the project management community of practice and engaged in professional development.

Experience/Criteria

Minimum
  • Experience managing large and highly complex technical, regulatory, business and change projects (from small to £multi-million projects) in Financial Services, a government or regulatory body. Please also apply if you have other regulated industry experience, we are keen to hear from you.

Essential
  • Comfortable working within a matrix management structure in a demanding environment, where you are expected to move at pace and achieve quality outcomes.
  • Shaping of business ideas and initiatives into detailed project plans for multi-workstream delivery to achieve business outcomes.
  • Planning and controlling project delivery.
  • Leading people through structural, procedural and cultural change, gaining commitment to new ways of working.
  • Ability to build working relationships with sponsors, accountable executives, key business stakeholders and business SMEs.
  • Strong supplier management expertise and knowledge of procurement.
  • Able to balance conflicting strategies, priorities and personalities, resilient and tenacious to ensure delivery whilst managing conflict.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to engage with all levels of the organisation, providing timely and meaningful communications to update status, share progress and manage expectations of stakeholders.

Desirable
  • Experience with data, cyber security or other IT projects.
  • Worked within an Agile environment.
  • Project Management qualification.

We are currently recruiting multiple Project Managers. All roles are graded Senior Associate level within the Corporate Job Family.

Salary £43,000 - £64,000 + benefits package
