Overview of role
Schroders is looking to recruit a dynamic senior engineer who can demonstrate enthusiasm, maturity and skill to be responsible for the Digital Workplace across the Schroders group. The team's aim is to delight our colleagues & customers. The successful candidate's responsibilities will include supporting the Collaboration engineering and support teams, providing end to end solutions and owning escalations to the engineering team. You will have a technical mind set with a global vision to allow you to consult to the business.

The Senior Collaboration Engineer will report to the Collaboration Capability Lead and will assist them in devising the strategic direction for the business as well as getting hands on with the architecture and support of the platforms. They will be responsible for ensuring their colleagues in the business have the most up to date tools available to them within the Microsoft 365 stack so they can be productive in their jobs. These tools need to be available across the end user devices in a secure and compliant manner, no matter where they are in the world. The Collaboration Team will be the key holders of the collaborations toolsets as well as the management and configuration of the mobile devices.

You will be working with 3rd parties, suppliers and other Schroders teams to achieve the visions laid out. Good personal skills are a must in order to achieve the ambitious modernisation programmes ahead of the team.

The team
Global IT Infrastructure is responsible for running all aspects of Infrastructure for Schroders globally. We have representative support personnel in most global offices. The bulk of architecture & engineering happens in London, Singapore & New York.

The mobile & collaboration engineering team has evolved over the past two years playing a crucial role in the design and delivery of the Schroders collaboration and mobility strategy. The team are responsible for all aspects of engineering as well as supporting the business in its day to day running.

What you'll do
• Supporting and mentoring the Collaboration engineers around the globe
• Giving input to training paths for required skills to drive development and success within the team
• Working with the Capability Lead to make sure colleagues in the business get value for money out of the toolsets available in the Microsoft 365 suite
• Manage the existing Mobile Device Management Solutions
• Driving a "Cloud First" strategy within the business with the aim to have a zero hardware footprint
• Maintaining the remaining on-premises environment and keeping it up to date and compliant to IS standards
• Driving the lifecycle management of the collaboration solutions
• Working with colleagues in other teams to bring synergy to the Schroders solution offerings
• Consult with 3rd parties to get the best of breed technologies, implementations and resolutions
• Ensuring the business is operating within its licensing bounds and reporting shortfalls to the Capability Lead
• Being cognisant of the budget and the teams expenditure on technology
• Implementing sufficient capacity planning and insights for the solutions in play
• Keeping designs and governance documentation up to date
• Working closely with Information Security to ensure continued high levels of Security are maintained on projects
• Coordinating and allocating workload within the team and the area covered by the team members
• Being aware of regional and global regulations, keeping Schroders true to their compliance requirements
• Work closely with the Application Developers, Desktop Engineers, Project Managers, Information Security and Digital teams to deliver and support the Schroders digital workplace applications are delivered in a timely manner
• Be part of an on call rota to support the environment out of hours

o Integrating apps with Graph, AppConnect SDK's
o Azure AD App proxy
• Experience administering JAMF would be advantageous

The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help
• Self motivated with a drive to learn and grow
• Experience working in a high pressure environment where uptime is key
• Accustomed to being the lead SME
• Excellent written skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of the business, technical or not
• Background in financial services or similar regulated industry, preferable
• Hands on experience working in large mobile environments with a mixture of iOS and Android
• Experience with managing Macs in an enterprise setting would be beneficial
• Understand the importance of metrics and statistics when measuring performance & capacity
• Ability to work on multiple tasks and re-prioritise at short notice
• Ability to maintain a high awareness of industry issues and trends - particularly with regards to accessibility, usability, and related emerging mobile technologies and frameworks.
• Contribute to documentation (e.g., instructional & technical specifications), code samples and tutorials for enterprise and community users
• Engage and be involved in contract negotiations with vendors
