A multinational Insurance company is seeking an Investment Business Analyst to join their Shareholder Investment team in their London Office.

The team is responsible for the company's investment management capability, helping the Group to produce superior risk adjusted returns relative to liabilities for shareholder assets. You will be conducing robust Investment Management processes which drives effective and agile decision making and implementation, and to identify and manage emerging risks and capture investment opportunities across the company's books.

Responsibilities and Tasks:
The role is expected to support both technical investment activity and to drive the transformation/change agenda and governance management for the team across a broad range of activities.
Business Analyst Responsibilities:
  • Design comprehensive end to end solutions, preparing documentation that is clear, consistent and complete, of a high standard and without any ambiguity, that will serve as the foundation for processes and systems development/implementation work. This should include Business/Functional Requirements, High Level Architecture Modelling, Solution Design capture and notation, Test script preparation and planning etc
  • Understanding needs and requirements and what success looks like for change and improvement initiatives
  • Analysing the structure of a particular area or change initiative to determine how it operates and determine its objectives
  • For existing processes identify problems with the current operating model
  • Provide project management support as necessary
  • Carrying out periodic post implementation quality checks
  • Oversee and drive the implementation of approved process changes/improvements
  • Design and implement appropriate testing, verification and validation test and controls
  • The role itself has no resources reporting directly to it. Therefore, it requires significant persuasion, leadership and tact to convince, influence and manager various stakeholders and teams to agree and deliver on objectives

Investment manager responsibilities:
  • Onboarding new asset classes
  • Translating investment strategy and objectives into implementable mandates and systems controls
  • Portfolio management oversight controls, data and processes and emerging risk identification
  • Derivative and collateral management oversight controls, data and processes and emerging risk identification
  • The role is expected to support the SMEs through taking a significant lead in inputting to the technical design of solutions. As such, the role requires strong analytical and technical skills and is expected to understand investment and financial concepts and techniques and contribute to their enhancement, in the areas of financial economics, credit analysis, investment reporting, derivatives and investment management.
  • Data management and integration, process automation and enhancement
  • Preparation and presentation of proposals and updates in governance committees
  • Management of all shareholder investment governance in conjunction with wider CIO governance/change team
  • Deliver ad-hoc analysis and requests on assets
  • Management of Shareholder team governance responsibilities
  • Implementation of data, systems, controls to support the company's climate ambitions

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Demonstrable experience as a Business Analyst within the investment management industry (in insurance, pensions, fund management, consultancy etc,)
  • Associated technical experience of the end-to-end investment management process with a focus on investment strategy and mandate implementation, systems and data management, reporting and portfolio management oversight
  • Relevant business degree or equivalent, recognised investment or financial professional qualification or part qualification e.g., Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), actuarial etc (desirable)
  • Strong IT skills, including advanced Excel and VBA
  • Bloomberg and Aladdin experience (desirable but not essential)
  • Strong change management skills including demonstrable experience of solution design and change implementation
  • A track record of owning delivery of tasks and senior stakeholder management and influencing
  • Demonstrable experience in data and systems engineering concepts and principles e.g., data integration and management
  • Strong understanding of the fundamentals of project management; and tactical and strategic planning appreciation
  • Planning, documentation, analysis and business requirements management techniques
  • Experience of testing, verification and validation techniques; business process mapping and efficiency/work breakdown techniques
  • Understanding of Solvency II and its application; technical knowledge and experience in areas such as credit analysis (public and private); investment manager oversight; portfolio management oversight and analytics, derivative and collateral management oversight
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Good time management and strong organisational skills, showing an ability to prioritise and plan in a flexible and proactive manner
  • A curious, positive and enthusiastic personality with can do attitude; willing to focus on pace and delivery and challenge the status quo

  • Salary between £40,000 - £75,000 depending on location, skills, experience and qualifications
