Morgan McKinley are proud to be supporting a growing Pensions administration business, who are hiring a Pensions Technical Manager to join them on a permanent basis! Hybrid working available.
Are you a Pensions expert looking for the next step in your career? Our client is looking for a Pensions Technical Manager to join their team.
What can you expect?
- The Technical Manager will be a key member of the Pensions team and the Senior Management team. They will be responsible for ensuring the business has the appropriate level of technical and compliance oversight in relation to SIPP and to support the business, to help ensure it operates in a fully compliant manner, with appropriate processes and controls.
- Supporting operations as the primary point of contact for internal technical queries, identifying and closing knowledge gaps within the teams
- Managing technical escalations through to resolution, raising to Senior Management or Compliance where necessary for additional consideration
- You will be expected to work effectively with all internal and external stakeholders and will require strong communication skills. You will be also need to work collaboratively with all teams within the business and be confident taking a lead role to help drive a program of continuous business improvement.
- The role has a wide scope of responsibilities and requires a detailed understanding of SIPP products, processes and relevant regulation, with a clear understanding of how to manage and mitigate key business risks.

We will count on you to:
- Maintaining a technical oversight regime for the main risk areas of the SIPP (contributions, relief at source, transfers in, investments, benefit crystallisation events and transfers out)
- Ensuring processes, documentation and letters adhere to regulatory and business requirements
- Providing pensions technical support to the operations teams
- Liaising with HMRC
- Providing, delivering and updating an ongoing technical training programme for the teams
- Leading regulatory research and forecasting and reporting to regulators; and Ensuring the technology (workflow, process management, and user interface) is configured to meet regulatory requirements.
- Analysing proposed legislative and regulatory change and working with the management team to agree our position and construct a response
- Providing input to the development of the proposition and supporting technology to maintain and increase its attractiveness to clients; and Identifying opportunities for straight through processing and automation to build operational capacity and resilience and reduce risk.
What you need to have:
- Significant Pensions Industry experience.
- Detailed knowledge of SIPP legislation applicable to the business.
- Demonstrable practical understanding of complex SIPP processes/transactions and regulatory reporting.
- Previous experience of working in a senior technical role ideally in a similar technical management capacity.
- Project management experience to help provide oversight and management of key projects as and when required.
- A passion for training and development.
- Experience of business process reviews, analysis and complaints management.
- Ability to analyse, interpret and utilise data from multiple sources to identify trends, issues, process inefficiencies, etc. Ability to produce reports detailing analysis and proposed recommendations.

- Excellent technical knowledge of pensions and retirement, with comprehensive experience
- in a specialist pensions technical capacity
- Up to date pension legislation knowledge and a strong understanding of applicable HMRC,
- TPR and DWP regulations and the broad principles of FCA regulation linked to SIPPs
- Extensive experience in regulated financial services, including exposure to platform administration
- Degree or Level 4 CII Accreditation or equivalent
