As a Barclays Climate Risk Manager, this is an exciting opportunity to support a wide-ranging remit across Barclays, playing an important role in protecting the bank from climate risk. You will be supporting the measurement of climate risk and its integration into the Climate Change Principal Risk, embedding and expanding climate scenario analysis and measuring the carbon footprint of Barclays financing activities.

Barclays is one of the world's largest and most respected financial institutions, with 329 years of success, quality and innovation behind us. We offer careers that provide endless opportunity - helping millions of individuals and businesses thrive, and creating financial and digital solutions that the world now takes for granted.

We are currently operating in a hybrid working environment, meaning that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Please discuss the detail of the working pattern options for the role with the hiring manager.

What will you be doing?
• Embedding climate scenario analysis capabilities, understanding external and internal requirements and supporting regulatory and bespoke climate scenario analysis exercises
• Researching and developing climate risk modelling approaches to assess the physical and transition risks across a wide range of asset classes, portfolios and customer/client types
• Supporting scenario analysis working groups and forums to drive forward the climate scenario analysis work plan and governance
• Supporting the quantification of Barclays financed emissions, researching external portfolio alignment standards and methodologies to evaluate reporting requirements
• Creating and coordinating communication and presentation materials for working groups and forums
• Providing relevant input in managing Barclays public disclosures such as Annual Reporting, Task Force on Climate Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) reports, and external returns
• Contributing to the goals and team objectives as required, promoting and sharing best practice in the application of tools and techniques for the management of climate risk
• Maintaining good working and risk controls practices, including maintenance of process maps, records management, model validation and issue remediation

What we're looking for:
• Prior experience in using or developing climate risk measurement tools and methodologies
• Prior risk and / or sustainability background, with experience as listed in the Role Purpose section
• Data manipulation and analytical abilities including proficiency in Excel and / or other programming languages
• Proven communication and presentation skills including experience of delivering to senior management and across wide stakeholder audience

Skills that will help you in the role:
• The ability to problem solve, with extensive experience working on projects from initiation phase to completion
• Awareness of current carbon accounting frameworks and the key principles and implications to financial institutions
• Awareness of business and franchise implications on Barclays from its strategic climate change objectives

Where will you be working?
In the heart of Canary Wharf, our headquarters at Churchill Place boasts onsite amenities such as; a gym, staff restaurant and deli bar, and is easily accessible by tube and bus links. With a population of around 5000 staff the atmosphere is second to none with a real buzz being created around the offices within.
