About our client
Our client is a well-established private equity firm with a strong track record investing in Central and Eastern Europe. The team is looking to recruit an ESG Manager to help build the firms' ESG credentials, guiding and shaping the sustainability strategy of the firm and providing expertise with respect to integrating ESG factors across the firm and its portfolio companies.
What the job involves
  • Developing and maintaining the ESG strategy across the firm and its portfolio, to ensure the firm operates to industry best practices
  • Supporting the integration of ESG practices into the investment life cycle and the development of an ESG checklist to be used by the investment team
  • Keeping abreast of developing ESG frameworks and industry standards, and how they can be applied to the firm, its funds and wider portfolio
  • Analysing and aggregating ESG data from the portfolio on a regular basis (annual) and working to ensure strong data quality from their portfolio companies
  • Work with technical consultants on the development of a climate strategy, including carbon footprint assessments and net zero strategy
  • Supporting annual ESG reporting to internal and external stakeholders, including the preparation of the annual sustainability report
  • Preparing ESG content for external communications, including marketing and fundraising materials
  • Supporting internal stakeholders with ESG training to encourage internal engagement and participation
  • Remaining up to date with ESG trends and relevant market developments to translate them into actionable improvements
  • Networking and building relationships within the industry including the firm's engagement with the UNPRI
Who we are looking for
  • Technical knowledge of ESG issues
  • Knowledge of policy and regulatory developments, disclosure requirements and best practice.
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
  • Passionate and motivated about sustainability topics
  • Experience in sustainability/ESG gained through either consultancy or an in-house position within the private markets or asset management
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to highlight trends and communicate data clearly and concisely
  • Ability to undertake independent research on emerging topics, marketing developments, industry guidance and regulatory developments and relate them to how they may impact the firm, its funds or portfolio
  • The ability to work independently and proactively with excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
