Who we are looking for
Our UK Institutional Business manages investments for major DB and DC pension schemes, pension providers, insurance companies, and wealth managers. We offer market leading index strategies across asset classes, including ESG and smart beta approaches, as well as a range of active capabilities.

The UK Consultant Relations team is responsible for leading and developing our relationships with Global and Local investment consulting firms in the UK. This includes obtaining and maintaining buy ratings on our investment strategies, identifying opportunities for business growth, and supporting the needs of consultants in relation to our clients in common.

We are looking for someone with significant experience of the UK Institutional market, either in consultant relations within an asset management firm, and/or from working as an investment consultant.

You will build meaningful, trust-based relationships with consultants and researchers, as you help us meet the needs of their clients. You will work with our investment managers and strategists to position our capabilities with the consultants. You will work in collaboration with the Sales Team to develop business from both Fiduciary and Advisory clients of the consultants.

What you will be responsible for
As Senior Consultant Relations Manager you will
  • Lead our relationship with a number of global and local UK consultancies
  • Be responsible for maintaining buy ratings on our key strategies and obtaining new ratings
  • Identify and develop commercial opportunities with the fiduciary and advisory clients of the consultancies working in close collaboration with our Sales Team
  • Work with our Consultant Relations Analysts to provide excellent service to the consultants in relation to their commercial and data requests and requirements
  • Provide feedback to the business on key trends and requirements emerging from the consulting sector, including consultant feedback on our investment strategies and capabilities
  • Collaborate with consultant relations teams in other regions
  • Work closely with local and global colleagues in Investment, Marketing, Product and Operations to ensure that we grow and maintain our business in a client-centric manner.
  • Safeguard the integrity and culture of our firm by championing risk and compliance policies that protect our clients' interests and those of SSGA

What we value

  • Strong knowledge of investment management, ideally including indexation and ESG
  • Significant experience of the UK institutional investment market
  • Indepth understanding of investment consultancy, either from working in consultant relations or as an investment consultant, and ideally a network of active relationships across the market

  • Gravitas and credibility at all levels

Education & Preferred Qualifications
  • IMC qualification (or equivalent) required
  • CFA or equivalent graduate-level finance qualification strongly preferred
