About this role

Business Unit Overview:

iShares & Wealth (iSW) is a key client business within BlackRock in EMEA, responsible for the strategy and distribution of the breadth and depth of BlackRock's platform and products. The iSW team is dedicated to representing our Index capabilities to EMEA clients and our full investment offering to Wealth clients.

The iSW COO team is responsible for driving commercial impact through the ongoing enhancement of business metrics, delivery of technology solutions across the client businesses & accelerating business alignment across partner groups.

Job Purpose/Background:

We are looking for a new VP in the iSW Client Strategy team. This is a critical role in developing the Strategy of the business, scoping delivery and managing implementation across the iShares & Wealth team in EMEA, with responsibilities on owning and developing market insights for the Business.

This role will work with cross-functional teams to deliver/ implement successful plans and programmes; develop thought leadership on key strategic topics; provide the business (head of iSW, SLT, etc) with key insights on specific topics to inform strategic priorities and actions(e.g., market flows, market trends, or client insights).

It requires the capability to work in small teams and utilize analytical abilities to come up with creative solutions to business problems.

Key Responsibilities:

The VP would be responsible of:
  • Driving strategic projects for iSW through different phases:
    • Clearly scoping the new project / integrating diverse views
    • Break down problem into work-streams define approach and required analyses, create workplans, allocate team/ partner teams' resources
    • Gather and synthesize information from a variety of sources (industry research, financial publications, field sales, marketing, events, etc.)
    • Manage junior team members (provide guidance on workstreams, structure analyses and documents, review outputs and provide feedback)
    • Synthesize findings (informally and formally) and engage senior team members in problem solving sessions and on potential issues along the way
    • Create impactful reports/presentations to communicate with snr management on project progress, final outcomes and implementation plans
  • Engaging regularly with snr team members (Head of iSW Client strategy, iSW COO) and the iSW leadership team to help identify and prioritize strategic opportunities / execution levers (e.g,. through quarterly review, client insights review, etc)
  • Maintaining and developing Market intelligence / Thought leadership on specific topics. Act as a sparring partner to other teams. Provide inputs to key strategic communications / reports (e.g. updates on business performance, IR updates, external client events, etc)
  • Selectively, support client development (solutions, partnerships, platform negotiations)


Skills/Qualifications

  • Structured communication skills: ability to communicate complex ideas top-down, ask targeted questions to arrive at solutions. Superior written, verbal communication and presentation skills and the ability to translate complex issues with an open and clear communication style.
  • Problem solving: think logically and deconstruct a larger problem into sub-components, prioritize issues and allocate resources
  • Interpersonal skills: ability to engage diverse set of stakeholders, understand their viewpoints, build long-term relationships, create a collaborative and inspirational environment within the team and develop team
  • Process management: Efficiently manage project processes, navigate tradeoffs and effectively manage own and other's time; ability to multi-task
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work across diverse markets and cultures
  • Team player
  • Relevant background in strategy (e.g., previous strategy consulting firm / Engagement manager level) on in similar functions centred on project work, and strategic client development
