A global Technology Capital Markets Scale Up are looking for a superstar Hybrid Coding / Accountant to join their finance team. The key objectives of the role are to drive strategic automation of finance processes across the group; and help develop intelligent MI and analytical tools: building and leveraging a deep understanding of the firm's business to help prepare insights to inform business decisions

This role is a Finance role first and foremost, however, it has a fundamental focus on deploying technology solutions to improve the efficiency and quality of finance processes & to deliver key analysis and insights

It requires you to take the lead on technology projects, business partnering with key stakeholders throughout the business.

Typical projects tend to follow these steps:
  • Gather Requirements: engage with key stakeholders to gain a deep conceptual understanding of the accounting objective / finance process / problem to solve
  • Source & Analyse Data: mine, manipulate, validate, and analyse the data
  • Develop & Deliver: Develop, test, and implement automated solution
  • This role will report directly to the Group Head of FP&A


Responsibilities:
  • Working with other members of the Finance team to understand existing processes and identify opportunities to improve and automate
  • Writing scripts to implement identified automation, typically using Python and SQL
  • Building prototype models for more complex processes and systems to test / proof the target design
  • Working with the Development team to translate prototypes into code on the core technology stack
  • Contributing to delivery of financial accounting and reporting processes, with a sustained focus on 'how we can use technology to improve processes'
  • Supporting and improving existing finance tools such as Power BI Dashboards and other MI tools
  • Contributing to the long-term technology strategy for Finance team where required, such as assessing and recommending whether we build a solution in-house or source it from a third-party


Requirements:
  • Proficiency with at least one programming language (Python and Go most readily)
  • Strong SQL knowledge, ability to query and transform large datasets
  • Good conceptual understanding of technical accounting
  • Deep understanding of the mechanics and purpose of finance processes and reporting
  • Qualified / Part Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
  • Strong academics with degree in subject demonstrating analytical thinking and technology skills
  • Financial Services experience
