About the BlackRock London Returners Programme

The Returners programme is designed to encourage and support a return to full-time work for up to ten experienced candidates through a six-month paid Returnship starting in September 2022.

We are seeking experienced individuals who are client orientated and passionate about performance, who display collaborative and innovative mindsets, and bring an eclectic set of proficiencies to the workplace; prioritisation, analytical and organisational skills amongst others.

BlackRock is looking for candidates with prior experience in Investment Management or broader Financial Services, who have had a career break outside of Industry of at least two years (with no upper limit). You must have the right to work in the UK to apply for the programme.

EMEA Technology & Operations; Portfolio Compliance Group (PCG) - Change Manager

Team Overview

BlackRock is currently seeking professionals to become part of our Portfolio Compliance team. The Portfolio Compliance Group (PCG) is a global group which sits within Global Accounting and Product Services ('GAAPS'), one of the essential functions within the Business Operations & Technology Group at BlackRock.

Portfolio Compliance is responsible for implementing controls & processes to ensure we are aligned with all applicable regulatory and portfolio issued guidelines.

Role:

This role is Change Manager for the Implementations team, whose main responsibility is interpreting and analysing the client's investment guidelines and coding them in BlackRock's compliance system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing the strategy of the implementation service model to meet the needs of our clients, to drive scale, implement technology solutions, reduce operational risk, and facilitate greater efficiency with our partners
  • Reporting into the Global Head of Implementation and serving as a member of the global PCG leadership team.
  • Consider strategic opportunities, support the vision and partner with team to ensure success
  • Responsible for leading the activities required to achieve the annual goals:
    • Oversee evolvement of local function with clear development plan and operating model
    • Operational improvement, ideas generation and use of existing and new technology capabilities to scale and/ or reduce risk across the global implementation function
    • Actively leads strategic firmwide initiatives for PCG
    • Drive technology deployment globally
    • Building and maintaining relationships with internal partners to fully understand requirements and therefore mitigate risk during portfolio inception and requests for coding change


Knowledge / Experience:
  • Experience of people management and project management
  • Experience in the investment management industry and of investment products
  • Background in finance or similar fields are preferred. Knowledge of financial instruments and markets is a bonus
  • Proficient in program languages (such as Visual Basic, C++, or Java) and an understanding of relational database concepts (including SQL) is a plus
  • Comfortable working across multiple functions, geographies and partners


Skills / Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with Aladdin suite of applications (preferred but not required)
  • Experience of coding within Compliance Monitoring tools (Aladdin, Sentinel, Charles River, In-House systems) (preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field (preferred)
