IMs work with Client Relationship Managers (CRMs) and Wealth Planners (WPs) to provide investment solutions (Discretionary (DPM) and Advisory (ADV)) to clients and prospects.

Summary of the key purposes of the role
  • Manage investment accounts (DPM and ADV) in line with client mandate/restrictions, group investment policy and regulations.
  • Work with CRMs and WPs to promote investment solutions (DPM and ADV) to clients and prospects.
  • Contribute to the investment process, asset class specialist groups, committees.
  • Supervise the team's delivery of investment mandates to clients and ensure a high quality of service consistent with both internal procedures and all regulation.
  • Ensure the team's investment mandates are delivered efficiently and profitably, managing costs effectively
  • Supervise and monitor bespoke portfolios and provide guidance from a commercial perspective when these should be promoted
  • Actively contribute to the maintenance and improvement of investment solutions.
  • Actively embed the firm code of conduct and risk awareness culture.
  • Share best practice and contribute to the development of junior staff.
  • Member of the Fixed Income Group

Summary of responsibilities
  • Management of Portfolios
    • Ensure portfolios are managed in line with client mandate/restrictions, SG and KH policy and that strategy changes are implemented promptly with agreed bookbuilds.
    • Ensure efficient execution of trades.
    • Understand client/regulatory restrictions and tax position and manage portfolios accordingly.
    • Contribute to efficiency and simplification through ongoing collaboration with the Portfolio Implementation Team
  • Leadership
    • Lead and mentor more junior employees by example whether as a line manager or otherwise
    • Exhibit professionalism and best practice in all areas


  • Contribute to Investment Performance
    • Contribute ideas to deliver investment performance via asset class specialist groups, huddles or other forums; KHIC, MCG.
    • Write up briefing notes on any investment ideas, share around team and collaborate with peers across group when applicable.
  • Business development
    • Promote, consistently within the client expectations, the full product range available in KH based on their market knowledge (ie Advisory, Discretionary)
    • Work closely with CRMs and provide clients with specific allocation and products in line with i) the client risk profile, ii) the KH investment strategy and iii) the local regulation
    • Present the bank offer internally and externally as required.
    • Provide input into the design and content of marketing materials
  • Operating Risk and Regulatory responsibilities
    • Complete ongoing Continual Professional Development (CPD) to maintain a valid Statement of Professional Standing (SPS) from a professional body.
    • When managing funds, ensure full compliance with relevant regulation.
    • Perform all duties in line with SG and KH procedures
    • Comply with relevant jurisdiction regulation and always treat customers fairly.
    • Engage positively with the Client Solutions Group Risk and Oversight team in their check and controls, Peer Reviews etc
  • Client Communication
    • Perform review meetings with clients explaining portfolio performance and KH strategy.
    • Contribute to written client materials as required.
    • Answer ad-hoc client queries as required.
    • Provide advice to clients on their portfolios based upon KH Strategy.
  • The employee must know and comply with the regulations, rules and procedures, internal and external applicable in the context of its function and follow the compulsory training.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with the principles outlined in the SG Code of Conduct, as well as the policies and procedures relevant to your responsibilities, to ensure that you adhere to a culture that treats clients fairly and focuses on the long term sustainability of client relationships.
  • Fixed Income Group (FIG)
    • Member of Fixed Income Group (FIG)
    • Promote Fixed Income (FI) capabilities through our distribution channels internally and externally
    • Help shape FI polices
    • Advise IM group colleagues of FI developments and opportunities and any wider implications
    • Maintain, develop and disseminate the output of the Fixed Income Screening Tool (FIST)
    • Manage portfolios within mandates and SG group policies
    • Report to clients and advise when action is needed
    • Liaise with the wider bonds group (PRIV)
    • Provide cover when colleagues are absent
    • Have experience of managing credit portfolios including high yield and subordinated debt instruments


Competencies
  • Manager competencies as defined in the SG Leadership Model
  • Experience and understanding of all major asset markets (equities, bonds, FX, commodities, hedge funds)
  • Sound understanding of asset allocation and portfolio construction principals.
  • Good understanding of investment risk management issues.
  • Good knowledge of UK regulatory framework.
  • Knowledge of global and macro economic markets
  • Know how in terms of assets class and investment solutions that can be structured
  • Know how in terms of technical portfolio setup and assets allocation
  • Knowledge of risk management principles and tools
  • Knowledge of market data providers tools
  • Knowledge of Immune golden rules and constant attention paid to
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Competency with Microsoft office programs (in particular Excel)
  • Understanding of UK tax framework.
