About the BlackRock London Returners Programme

The Returners programme is designed to encourage and support a return to full-time work for up to ten experienced candidates through a six-month paid Returnship starting in September 2022.

We are seeking experienced individuals who are client orientated and passionate about performance, who display collaborative and innovative mindsets, and bring an eclectic set of proficiencies to the workplace; prioritisation, analytical and organisational skills amongst others.

BlackRock is looking for candidates with prior experience in Investment Management or broader Financial Services, who have had a career break outside of Industry of at least two years (with no upper limit). You must have the right to work in the UK to apply for the programme.

Infrastructure Debt Team

Job Purpose/Background:

BlackRock has an opportunity for a qualified and experienced candidate to join the Infrastructure Debt investment team.

The role will have responsibility for project and financial modelling, deal assessment and execution, development and review of due diligence reports, market research, portfolio monitoring and general analytics. Will also assist in preparing presentations and pitch books, cash flow analysis, researching and report writing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial modelling: running and developing financial models in order to analyse project opportunities.
  • Deal assessment and execution: working with the team to assess and execute project investments. This will include conducting due diligence, financial review, preparation of presentation material for investment committee etc.
  • Market research: including research on potential investments, policy, competitors, technology etc.
  • Portfolio monitoring: assist in the monitoring of investments in the portfolio.

Knowledge/Experience:
  • Relevant experience in project finance and/or infrastructure debt.
  • Strong understanding of the European infrastructure market, preferably with a growing network of contacts within the market.
  • Highly numerate with demonstrable financial modelling and evaluation skills. In particular, a good understanding of cash flow modelling and sensitivity analysis.
  • Experience of undertaking infrastructure due diligence processes as well as reviewing and negotiating finance and project legal documentation.
  • A keen interest in infrastructure debt investment.
  • Demonstrated research, analytical, and presentation-drafting skills.


Skills/Qualifications:
  • Strong academic background, Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics/statistics, or a related field or equivalent.
  • Strong financial modelling skills.
  • Experience in Project and Corporate Finance.
  • Fluent English and additional Western European language skills preferable.
  • CFA, CAIA or advanced degree preferred.

  • Enthusiasm and commitment to working in a friendly, entrepreneurial, team environment.
