American investment banking firm seeks a Java/Spark Developer for a 12+ month contract paying up to £950p/d, within their Market Risk team based in London.

The role will be responsible for creating a next gen Data Fabric that will bring together data sources for the Markets Risk team and enable industry-leading analytics, supervisory reporting, client reporting, regulatory, surveillance, and data science solutions.

The role of the Big Data Dev Lead Involves being part of a dynamic team and contributing towards the development of product rollout, software development and application\data migrations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Java, Big Data and Spark platforms.

Qualifications:

Experience in Java server side development background
    • Experience of 5-8 years in developing, defining and delivering data and analytics solutions
    • Java Server side development working in Low latency applications
    • Spark expertise (micro batching, EOD/real time)
    • Scala
    • SQL
    • Linux
    • Hadoop Ecosystem (HDFS, Impala, HIVE, HBASE, etc.)
    • Open Source technologies
    • Memory management, Multithreading
  • Experience in Data technologies including strong database knowledge
  • Experience working with real time systems with high volumes
  • Knowledge of Front office trading (esp. Equities) and investment banking experience preferred
  • Experience in working with Risk/Finance and cross markets knowledge is preferred
  • Strong leadership and management experience of leading large teams.
  • Experience with modern software development practices (test-driven development, Agile continuous integration)
  • Solid English written and verbal communication ability, including the ability to put together clear, concise, accurate reports and Email communication
  • Excellent analytical and process-based skills, i.e. process flow diagrams, business modelling, and functional design;
