About the BlackRock London Returners Programme

The Returners programme is designed to encourage and support a return to full-time work for up to ten experienced candidates through a six-month paid Returnship starting in September 2022.

We are seeking experienced individuals who are client orientated and passionate about performance, who display collaborative and innovative mindsets, and bring an eclectic set of proficiencies to the workplace; prioritisation, analytical and organisational skills amongst others.

BlackRock is looking for candidates with prior experience in Investment Management or broader Financial Services, who have had a career break outside of Industry of at least two years (with no upper limit). You must have the right to work in the UK to apply for the programme.

Global Cash Management

BlackRock's Global Cash Management is a dynamic area of growth. We are one of the largest managers of cash in the world with $728 billion in assets under management (as at 31 March 2022). We have been an innovator and leader in the cash markets for over 30 years by combining investment management, distribution and technology to build an effective and efficient cash management experience for our clients.

We offer product solutions ranging from money market funds to fully customised separate accounts, and everything in between. We've pioneered environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investing solutions, and, through our 2017 acquisition of Cachematrix, offer custom web-based cash management investment platforms for financial institutions and corporate treasurers alike. These innovations are at the centre of our goal to transform the cash management ecosystem for investors.

Position Description:

Within our EMEA Cash Management team, we seek an individual to support the group's sales and relationship management efforts for Banks and Wealth Managers. This individual will be tasked with assisting in executing the cash management sales and strategy in EMEA, in support of the broader global Cash marketing efforts and overall objectives of the EMEA Cash sales team.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • The role will be accountable for supporting a portfolio of Bank and Wealth manager accounts under the supervision of the Head of EMEA Bank and Wealth Cash Sales. The individual will be responsible for:
  • Management of distribution agreements and banking relationship queries
  • Onboarding of new bank distribution platforms
  • Supporting account opening process and account onboarding for the Cash business
  • Assist with management of retrocession processes and queries
  • Prospecting and new client development, growing asset levels and revenues
  • Active engagement with a portfolio of clients to retain asset levels; recognising Bank and Wealth Manager needs, developing a thorough understanding of the client base and investment products used
  • Actively seek opportunities to cross-sell broader BlackRock offering and introduce other parts of the business
  • Supporting relationship management efforts with key intermediary partners in the region
  • Working closely with cash team partners to provide seamless client coverage globally
  • Close collaboration with Product Strategy and Portfolio Management teams to prepare materials for client review meetings and with relevant additional internal business units when developing solutions for clients - in particular Legal, Tax, Finance, Marketing etc.
  • Develop expertise in local market practices
  • Support management of the team in maintaining and analysing the business and market opportunities, including the use of our client relationship management tool ensuring information within Blackrock's databases is up to date
  • Provide strategic input into developing the service model for clients
  • Address client and counterparty enquiries, errors and complaints in a timely manner
  • Assist in planning and budgeting for various client entertainment
  • Support management of the team in maintaining client relationship management system


The ideal candidate will have experience and have demonstrated a strong track record in the following areas:
  • A motivated individual with a strong work ethic, who demonstrates multi-tasking ability and delivery to time and quality


Skills and Qualifications should include:
  • Previous experience an advantage
  • Ability to take initiative and work both in a team and independently as required
  • Organisational and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, including proofreading and design editing
  • Fluent English a must, additional European language skills would be advantageous
  • Advanced skills required in PowerPoint, Word and Excel
