Role Context:

The With-Profits Financial Strategy team work within Commercial Finance and focus on the financial management of the Prudential With-Profits Funds. Our team works strategically with other areas of the business to manage the position of the funds relative to risk appetite, encompassing: investment strategy, new business plans, bonus policy and other areas of financial management, in addition to supporting the statutory duties of the With-Profits Actuary. The team now have an excellent opportunity for an Actuary to join them on a permanent basis.

The role will be based on a blended approach to office based working and we are open to looking at candidates being based from our Stirling, Edinburgh or London based offices.

Work Level Accountabilities:

• Delivering on time and accurate financial results
• Providing specialist technical advice using actuarial principles and tools to support business objectives
• Taking complex and ambiguous problems and quickly generating practical solutions
• Building strong relationships with peers and stakeholders
• Identifying opportunities for process improvement
• Producing good quality written reports

Key Responsibilities:

• To support the With-Profits Financial Strategy team in delivering its annual With-Profits Management Plan .
• Produce accurate and well-explained analysis of key drivers of the with-profits fund to help inform strategic decisions
• Communication of results with key stakeholders including senior management and other internal and external stakeholders.
• To maintain effective working relationships with other teams in Finance, Risk and the Investment Office.

Experience, Skills & Knowledge:

• Be a qualified or part qualified actuary.
• Experience of With-Profits Solvency II balance sheet reporting and modelling.
• Ideally have experience of asset-liability management.
• Have experience of writing good quality, concise reports
• Be highly analytical and a skilled problem solver, with a strong commercial mind-set, and the ability to distil complex ideas or problems into simple, effective solutions.
• Be organised and willing to challenge and improve existing processes and controls
• Have an ability to communicate effectively and influence effectively with productive, successful relationships with stakeholders.
